Peter’s Declaration about Jesus
13 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” 14 And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, but others Elijah, and still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah,[a] the Son of the living God.” 17 And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you, you are Peter,[b] and on this rock[c] I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

13 (A)Poi Gesù, giunto nei dintorni di Cesarea di Filippo, domandò ai suoi discepoli: «Chi dice la gente che sia il Figlio dell’uomo?[a]» 14 Essi risposero: «Alcuni, Giovanni il battista; altri, Elia; altri, Geremia o uno dei profeti». 15 Ed egli disse loro: «E voi, chi dite che io sia?» 16 Simon Pietro rispose: «Tu sei il Cristo, il Figlio del Dio vivente».
17 Gesù, replicando, gli disse: «Tu sei beato, Simone, figlio di Giona, perché non la carne e il sangue ti hanno rivelato questo, ma il Padre mio che è nei cieli. 18 E anch’io ti dico: tu sei Pietro, e su questa pietra[b] edificherò la mia chiesa, e le porte dell’Ades[c] non la potranno vincere. 19 Io ti darò le chiavi del regno dei cieli; tutto ciò che legherai in terra sarà legato nei cieli, e tutto ciò che scioglierai in terra sarà sciolto nei cieli».

14 Sie sprachen: Etliche für Johannes den Täufer; andere aber für Elia; noch andere für Jeremia oder einen der Propheten.
15 Da spricht er zu ihnen: Ihr aber, für wen haltet ihr mich?
16 Da antwortete Simon Petrus und sprach: Du bist der Christus, der Sohn des lebendigen Gottes!
17 Und Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Glückselig bist du, Simon, Sohn des Jona; denn Fleisch und Blut hat dir das nicht geoffenbart, sondern mein Vater im Himmel!
18 Und ich sage dir auch: Du bist Petrus, und auf diesen Felsen will ich meine Gemeinde bauen,[a] und die Pforten des Totenreiches sollen sie nicht überwältigen.
19 Und ich will dir die Schlüssel des Reiches der Himmel geben; und was du auf Erden binden wirst, das wird im Himmel gebunden sein; und was du auf Erden lösen wirst, das wird im Himmel gelöst sein.[b]

13 Amikor Jézus Cézárea Filippi vidékén járt, megkérdezte tanítványaitól: „Mit mondanak az emberek rólam, kicsoda az Emberfia?”
14 „Egyesek azt mondják, hogy te vagy Bemerítő János, mások Illésnek, vagy Jeremiásnak, vagy a régi próféták közül az egyiknek tartanak” — válaszolták.
15 „Hát ti mit mondtok rólam, ki vagyok én?” — kérdezte tovább.
16 Simon Péter így válaszolt: „Te vagy a Messiás, az élő Isten Fia.”
17 Jézus ezt felelte: „Milyen áldott és boldog vagy Simon, Jóna fia, mert ezt nem magadtól mondtad, hanem Mennyei Atyám jelentette ki neked. 18 Én pedig azt mondom, hogy te Péter vagy. Erre a sziklára fogom felépíteni az eklézsiámat, és a halál erői[a] sem lesznek képesek azt legyőzni. 19 Neked fogom adni Isten Királyságának a kulcsait, és amit megkötsz a földön, az meg lesz kötve a Mennyben, viszont amit feloldasz a földön, az fel lesz oldva a Mennyben.”

13 Jésus se rendit dans la région de Césarée de Philippe. Il interrogea ses disciples : Que disent les gens au sujet du Fils de l’homme ? Qui est-il d’après eux ?
14 Ils répondirent : Pour les uns, c’est Jean-Baptiste ; pour d’autres, Elie ; pour d’autres encore, Jérémie ou un autre prophète.
15 – Et vous, leur demanda-t-il, qui dites-vous que je suis ?
16 Simon Pierre lui répondit : Tu es le Messie, le Fils du Dieu vivant.
17 Jésus lui dit alors : Tu es heureux, Simon, fils de Jonas, car ce n’est pas de toi-même que tu as trouvé cela. C’est mon Père céleste qui te l’a révélé. 18 Et moi, je te déclare : Tu es Pierre, et sur cette pierre je bâtirai mon Eglise, contre laquelle la mort elle-même ne pourra rien. 19 Je te donnerai les clés du royaume des cieux : tout ce que tu interdiras sur la terre sera interdit aux yeux de Dieu et tout ce que tu autoriseras sur la terre sera autorisé aux yeux de Dieu[a].
