15 ¶ Entonces llegaron a Jesús ciertos escribas y fariseos de Jerusalén, diciendo:
2 ¿Por qué tus discípulos traspasan la tradición de los ancianos? Porque no se lavan las manos cuando comen pan.
3 Y él respondiendo, les dijo: ¿Por qué también vosotros traspasáis el mandamiento de Dios por vuestra tradición?
4 Porque Dios mandó, diciendo: Honra a tu padre y a tu madre, y el que maldijere al padre o a la madre, muera irremisiblemente.
5 Pero vosotros decís: Cualquiera que dijere al padre o a la madre: Es ya ofrenda mía a Dios todo aquello con que pudiera ayudarte,
6 y ya no deberá honrar a su padre o a su madre con socorro. Así habéis invalidado el mandamiento de Dios por vuestra tradición.
7 Hipócritas, bien profetizó de vosotros Isaías, diciendo:
8 Este pueblo de su boca se acerca a mí y de labios me honra, pero su corazón lejos está de mí.
9 Mas en vano me adoran, enseñando doctrinas y mandamientos de hombres.
10 ¶ Y llamando a sí a la multitud, les dijo: Oíd, y entended:
11 No lo que entra en la boca contamina al hombre; mas lo que sale de la boca, esto contamina al hombre.
12 Entonces acercándose sus discípulos, le dijeron: ¿Sabes que los fariseos, oyendo esta palabra, se ofendieron?
13 Pero respondiendo él, dijo: Toda planta que no plantó mi Padre celestial, será desarraigada.
14 Dejadlos; son ciegos guías de ciegos; y si el ciego guiare al ciego, ambos caerán en el hoyo.
15 Y respondiendo Pedro, le dijo: Decláranos esta parábola.
16 Y Jesús dijo: ¿También vosotros sois aún sin entendimiento?
17 ¿No entendéis todavía que todo lo que entra en la boca, va al vientre, y es echado en la letrina?
18 Mas lo que sale de la boca, del mismo corazón sale; y esto contamina al hombre.
19 Porque del corazón salen los malos pensamientos: muertes, adulterios, fornicaciones, hurtos, falsos testimonios, maledicencias.
20 Estas cosas son las que contaminan al hombre; pero el comer con las manos sin lavar no contamina al hombre.
21 ¶ Y saliendo Jesús de allí, se fue a las partes de Tiro y de Sidón.
22 Y he aquí una mujer cananea, que había salido de aquellos términos, clamaba, diciéndole: Señor, Hijo de David, ten misericordia de mí; mi hija está enferma, poseida del demonio.
23 Mas él no le respondió palabra. Entonces acercándose sus discípulos, le rogaron, diciendo: Despáchala, pues da voces tras nosotros.
24 Y él respondiendo, dijo: No soy enviado sino a las ovejas perdidas de la Casa de Israel.
25 Entonces ella vino, y le adoró, diciendo: Señor socórreme.
26 Y respondiendo él, dijo: No está bien tomar el pan de los hijos, y echarlo a los perrillos.
27 Y ella dijo: Sí, Señor; mas los perrillos comen de las migajas que caen de la mesa de sus señores.
28 Entonces respondiendo Jesús, dijo: Oh mujer, grande es tu fe; sea hecho contigo como quieres. Y fue sana su hija desde aquella hora.
29 ¶ Y partiendo Jesús de allí, vino junto al mar de Galilea; y subiendo al monte, se sentó allí.
30 Y llegaron a él muchas personas, que tenían consigo cojos, ciegos, mudos, mancos, y muchos otros enfermos; y los pusieron a los pies de Jesús, y los sanó;
31 De manera que se maravillaba la multitud, viendo hablar los mudos, los mancos sanos, andar los cojos, y ver los ciegos; y glorificaron al Dios de Israel.
32 Y Jesús llamando a sus discípulos, dijo: Tengo misericordia de la multitud, que ya hace tres días que perseveran conmigo, y no tienen qué comer; y enviarlos en ayunas no quiero, para que no desmayen en el camino.
33 Entonces sus discípulos le dicen: ¿Dónde tenemos nosotros tantos panes en el desierto, para saciar a una multitud tan grande?
34 Y Jesús les dice: ¿Cuántos panes tenéis? Y ellos dijeron: Siete, y unos pocos pececillos.
35 Y mandó a la multitud que se recostara sobre la tierra.
36 Y tomando los siete panes y los peces, dando gracias, partió y dio a sus discípulos; y los discípulos a la multitud.
37 Y comieron todos, y se saciaron; y alzaron lo que sobró de los pedazos, siete canastas llenas.
38 Y eran los que habían comido, cuatro mil varones, sin contar las mujeres y los niños.
39 Entonces, despedida la multitud, subió en un barco; y vino a los términos de Magdala.

Lo limpio y lo impuro(A)
15 Se acercaron a Jesús algunos fariseos y maestros de la Ley que habían llegado de Jerusalén y preguntaron:
2 —¿Por qué quebrantan tus discípulos la tradición de los líderes religiosos? ¡Comen sin cumplir primero el rito de lavarse las manos!
3 Jesús contestó:
—¿Y por qué ustedes quebrantan el mandamiento de Dios a causa de la tradición? 4 Dios dijo: “Honra a tu padre y a tu madre”[a] y también: “El que maldiga a su padre o a su madre será condenado a muerte”.[b] 5 Ustedes, en cambio, enseñan que un hijo puede decir a su padre o a su madre: “Cualquier ayuda que pudiera darte ya la he dedicado como ofrenda a Dios”. 6 En ese caso, el tal hijo no tiene que honrar a su padre.[c] Así por causa de la tradición anulan ustedes la palabra de Dios. 7 ¡Hipócritas! Tenía razón Isaías cuando profetizó de ustedes:
8 »“Este pueblo me honra con los labios,
pero su corazón está lejos de mí.
9 En vano me adoran;
sus enseñanzas no son más que reglas humanas”».[d]
10 Jesús llamó a la multitud y dijo:
—Escuchen y entiendan. 11 Lo que contamina a una persona no es lo que entra en la boca, sino lo que sale de ella.
12 Entonces se le acercaron los discípulos y dijeron:
—¿Sabes que los fariseos se escandalizaron al oír eso?
13 —Toda planta que mi Padre celestial no haya plantado será arrancada de raíz —respondió—. 14 Déjenlos; son guías ciegos.[e] Y si un ciego guía a otro ciego, ambos caerán en un hoyo.
15 —Explícanos la comparación —pidió Pedro.
16 —¿Tampoco ustedes pueden todavía entenderlo? —dijo Jesús—. 17 ¿No se dan cuenta de que todo lo que entra en la boca va al estómago y después se echa en la letrina? 18 Pero lo que sale de la boca viene del corazón y contamina a la persona. 19 Porque del corazón salen los malos pensamientos, los homicidios, los adulterios, la inmoralidad sexual, los robos, los falsos testimonios y las calumnias. 20 Estas son las cosas que contaminan a la persona y no el comer sin lavarse las manos.
La fe de la mujer cananea(B)
21 Partiendo de allí, Jesús se retiró a la región de Tiro y Sidón. 22 De esa región salió a su encuentro una mujer cananea gritando:
—¡Señor, Hijo de David, ten compasión de mí! Mi hija sufre terriblemente por estar endemoniada.
23 Jesús no respondió ni una palabra. Así que sus discípulos se acercaron a él y le rogaron:
—Despídela, porque viene detrás de nosotros gritando.
24 —No fui enviado sino a las ovejas perdidas del pueblo de Israel —contestó Jesús.
25 La mujer se acercó y arrodillándose delante de él, suplicó:
—¡Señor, ayúdame!
26 Él respondió:
—No está bien quitarles el pan a los hijos y echárselo a los perros.
27 —Sí, Señor —respondió la mujer—, pero hasta los perros comen las migajas que caen de la mesa de sus amos.
28 —¡Mujer, qué grande es tu fe! —contestó Jesús—. Que se cumpla lo que quieres.
Y desde ese mismo momento quedó sana su hija.
Jesús alimenta a cuatro mil(C)(D)
29 Salió Jesús de allí y llegó a orillas del lago de Galilea. Luego subió a la montaña y se sentó. 30 Se acercaron grandes multitudes que llevaban cojos, ciegos, lisiados, mudos y muchos enfermos más; los pusieron a sus pies y él los sanó. 31 La gente se asombraba al ver a los mudos hablar, a los lisiados recobrar la salud, a los cojos andar y a los ciegos ver. Y alababan al Dios de Israel.
32 Jesús llamó a sus discípulos y les dijo:
—Siento compasión de esta gente porque ya llevan tres días conmigo y no tienen nada que comer. No quiero despedirlos sin comer, no sea que se desmayen por el camino.
33 Los discípulos objetaron:
—¿Dónde podríamos conseguir en este lugar despoblado suficiente pan para dar de comer a toda esta multitud?
34 —¿Cuántos panes tienen? —preguntó Jesús.
—Siete y unos pocos pescaditos —respondieron ellos.
35 Luego Jesús mandó que la gente se sentara en el suelo. 36 Tomando los siete panes y los pescados, dio gracias, los partió y se los fue dando a los discípulos. Estos, a su vez, los distribuyeron a la gente. 37 Todos comieron hasta quedar satisfechos. Después los discípulos recogieron siete cestas llenas de pedazos que sobraron. 38 Los que comieron eran cuatro mil hombres, sin contar a las mujeres y a los niños. 39 Después de despedir a la gente, Jesús subió a la barca y se fue a la región de Magadán.[f]

Lo que hace impuro al hombre(A)
15 Se acercaron a Jesús algunos fariseos y maestros de la ley que habían llegado de Jerusalén, y le preguntaron:
2 —¿Por qué tus discípulos desobedecen la tradición de nuestros antepasados? ¿Por qué no cumplen con la ceremonia de lavarse las manos antes de comer?
3 Jesús les preguntó:
—¿Y por qué también ustedes desobedecen el mandato de Dios para seguir sus propias tradiciones? 4 Porque Dios dijo: “Honra a tu padre y a tu madre”, y “El que maldiga a su padre o a su madre será condenado a muerte.” 5 Pero ustedes afirman que un hombre puede decirle a su padre o a su madre: “No puedo ayudarte, porque todo lo que tengo lo he ofrecido a Dios”; 6 y que cualquiera que diga esto, ya no está obligado a ayudar a su padre o a su madre. Así pues, ustedes han anulado la palabra de Dios para seguir sus propias tradiciones. 7 ¡Hipócritas! Bien habló el profeta Isaías acerca de ustedes, cuando dijo:
8 “Este pueblo me honra con la boca,
pero su corazón está lejos de mí.
9 De nada sirve que me rinda culto;
sus enseñanzas son mandatos de hombres.”
10 Luego Jesús llamó a la gente y dijo:
—Escuchen y entiendan: 11 Lo que entra por la boca del hombre no es lo que lo hace impuro. Al contrario, lo que hace impuro al hombre es lo que sale de su boca.
12 Entonces los discípulos se acercaron a Jesús y le preguntaron:
—¿Sabes que los fariseos se ofendieron al oír lo que dijiste?
13 Él les contestó:
—Cualquier planta que mi Padre celestial no haya plantado, será arrancada de raíz. 14 Déjenlos, pues son ciegos que guían a otros ciegos. Y si un ciego guía a otro, los dos caerán en algún hoyo.
15 Pedro entonces le dijo a Jesús:
—Explícanos lo que dijiste.
16 Jesús respondió:
—¿Ni siquiera ustedes son todavía capaces de comprender? 17 ¿No entienden que todo lo que entra por la boca va al vientre, para después salir del cuerpo? 18 Pero lo que sale de la boca viene del interior del hombre; y eso es lo que lo hace impuro. 19 Porque del interior del hombre salen los malos pensamientos, los asesinatos, el adulterio, la inmoralidad sexual, los robos, las mentiras y los insultos. 20 Estas cosas son las que hacen impuro al hombre; pero el comer sin cumplir con la ceremonia de lavarse las manos, no lo hace impuro.
La fe de una mujer no judía(B)
21 Jesús se dirigió de allí a la región de Tiro y Sidón. 22 Y una mujer cananea, de aquella región, se le acercó, gritando:
—¡Señor, Hijo de David, ten compasión de mí! ¡Mi hija tiene un demonio que la hace sufrir mucho!
23 Jesús no le contestó nada. Entonces sus discípulos se acercaron a él y le rogaron:
—Dile a esa mujer que se vaya, porque viene gritando detrás de nosotros.
24 Jesús dijo:
—Dios me ha enviado solamente a las ovejas perdidas del pueblo de Israel.
25 Pero la mujer fue a arrodillarse delante de él, diciendo:
—¡Señor, ayúdame!
26 Jesús le contestó:
—No está bien quitarles el pan a los hijos y dárselo a los perros.
27 Ella le dijo:
—Sí, Señor; pero hasta los perros comen las migajas que caen de la mesa de sus amos.
28 Entonces le dijo Jesús:
—¡Mujer, qué grande es tu fe! Hágase como quieres.
Y desde ese mismo momento su hija quedó sana.
Jesús sana a muchos enfermos
29 Jesús salió de allí y llegó a la orilla del Lago de Galilea; luego subió a un cerro y se sentó. 30 Mucha gente se reunió donde él estaba. Llevaban cojos, ciegos, mancos, mudos y otros muchos enfermos, que pusieron a los pies de Jesús, y él los sanó. 31 De modo que la gente estaba admirada al ver que los mudos hablaban, los mancos quedaban sanos, los cojos andaban y los ciegos podían ver. Y comenzaron a alabar al Dios de Israel.
Jesús da de comer a una multitud(C)
32 Jesús llamó a sus discípulos, y les dijo:
—Siento compasión de esta gente, porque ya hace tres días que están aquí conmigo y no tienen nada que comer. No quiero mandarlos sin comer a sus casas, porque pueden desmayarse por el camino.
33 Sus discípulos le dijeron:
—Pero ¿cómo podremos encontrar comida para tanta gente, en un lugar como éste, donde no vive nadie?
34 Jesús les preguntó:
—¿Cuántos panes tienen ustedes?
—Siete, y unos pocos pescaditos —contestaron ellos.
35 Entonces mandó que la gente se sentara en el suelo, 36 tomó en sus manos los siete panes y los pescados y, habiendo dado gracias a Dios, los partió y los dio a sus discípulos, y ellos los repartieron entre la gente. 37 Todos comieron hasta quedar satisfechos, y aun llenaron siete canastas con los pedazos sobrantes. 38 Los que comieron eran cuatro mil hombres, sin contar las mujeres y los niños. 39 Después Jesús despidió a la gente, subió a la barca y se fue a la región de Magadán.

1 Then [a]came to Jesus the Scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,
2 (A) Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the Elders? for they [b]wash not their hands when they eat bread.
3 [c]But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
4 (B)For God hath commanded, saying, [d]Honor thy father and mother: (C)and he that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
5 But ye say, [e]Whosoever shall say to father or mother, By the gift that is offered by me, thou mayest have profit,
6 Though he honor not his father, or his mother, shall be free: thus have ye made the commandment of God of no [f]authority by your tradition.
7 [g]O hypocrites, Isaiah prophesied well of you, saying,
8 (D)This people draweth near unto me with their mouth, and honoreth me with the lips, but their heart is far off from me.
9 But in vain they worship me, teaching for doctrines, men’s precepts.
10 [h]Then he called the multitude unto him, and said to them, Hear and understand.
11 (E)That which goeth into the mouth, defileth not the man, but that which cometh out of the mouth that defileth the man.
12 ¶ Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Perceivest thou not, that the Pharisees are offended in hearing this saying?
13 But he answered and said, (F)Every plant which mine heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
14 Let them alone, they be the (G)blind leaders of the blind: and if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
15 ¶ (H)Then answered Peter, and said to him, Declare unto us this parable.
16 Then said Jesus, Are ye yet without understanding?
17 Perceive ye not yet, that whatsoever entereth into the mouth, goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth, come from the heart, and they defile the man.
19 For out of the heart (I)come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false testimonies, slanders.
20 These are the things which defile the man: but to eat with unwashed hands, defileth not the man.
21 (J)And Jesus went thence, and departed into the [i]coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
22 And behold, a woman a [j]Canaanite came out of the same coasts, and cried, saying unto him, Have mercy on me, O Lord, the son of David: my daughter is miserably vexed with a devil.
23 [k]But he answered her not a word. Then came to him his disciples, and besought him, saying, Send her away, for she crieth after us.
24 But he answered, and said, I am not sent, but unto the (K)lost sheep of the [l]house of Israel.
25 Yet she came, and worshipped him, saying, Lord help me.
26 And he answered, and said, It is not good to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to whelps.
27 But she said, Truth, Lord: yet indeed the whelps eat of the crumbs, which fall from their master’s table.
28 Then Jesus answered, and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it to thee, as thou desirest. And her daughter was made whole at that hour.
29 ¶ [m]So Jesus (L)went away from thence, and came near unto the sea of Galilee, and went up in a mountain and sat down there.
30 And great multitudes came unto him, (M)having with them, halt, blind, dumb, [n]maimed, and many others, and cast them down, at Jesus’ feet, and he healed them.
31 Insomuch that the multitude wondered, to see the dumb speak, the maimed whole, the halt to go, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
32 (N)[o]Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on this multitude, because they have [p]continued with me already three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not let them depart fasting, lest they faint in the way.
33 And his disciples said unto him, Whence should we get so much bread in the wilderness, as should suffice so great a multitude!
34 And Jesus said unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.
35 Then he commandeth the multitude [q]to sit down on the ground.
36 And took the seven loaves, and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
37 And they did all eat, and were sufficed, and they took up of the fragments that remained, seven [r]baskets full.
38 And they that had eaten, were four thousand men, beside women, and little children.
39 Then Jesus sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the parts of Magdala.

- Matthew 15:1 None commonly are more bold contemners of God, than they whom God appointeth keepers of his law.
- Matthew 15:2 Which they received of their ancestors from hand to hand, or their elders allowed, which were the governors of the Church.
- Matthew 15:3 Their wicked boldness, in corrupting the commandments of God, and that upon the pretence of godliness, and usurping authority to make laws, is here reproved.
- Matthew 15:4 By honor is meant all kinds of duties which children owe to their parents.
- Matthew 15:5 The meaning is this: whatsoever I bestow upon the Temple, is to thy profit, for it is as good as if I gave it thee, for (as the Pharisees of our time say) it shall be meritorious for thee: for under this color of religion, they raked all to themselves, as though that he that had given anything to the Temple, had done the duty of a child.
- Matthew 15:6 You made it of no power and authority as much as lay in you: for otherwise the commandments of God stand fast in the Church of God, in despite of the world and Satan.
- Matthew 15:7 The same men are condemned for hypocrisy and superstition, because they made the kingdom of God to stand in outward things.
- Matthew 15:10 Christ teacheth us that hypocrisy of false teachers which deceive our soul, is not to be borne withall, no not in indifferent matters, and there is no reason why their ordinary vocation should blind our eyes: otherwise we are like to perish with them.
- Matthew 15:21 Coasts which were near to Tyre and Sidon, that is, in that quarter where Palestine bendeth toward Phoenicia, and the sea of Syria.
