Feeding the Four Thousand
32 Then Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion for the crowd, because they have been with me now for three days and have nothing to eat; and I do not want to send them away hungry, for they might faint on the way.” 33 The disciples said to him, “Where are we to get enough bread in the desert to feed so great a crowd?” 34 Jesus asked them, “How many loaves have you?” They said, “Seven, and a few small fish.” 35 Then ordering the crowd to sit down on the ground, 36 he took the seven loaves and the fish; and after giving thanks he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. 37 And all of them ate and were filled; and they took up the broken pieces left over, seven baskets full. 38 Those who had eaten were four thousand men, besides women and children. 39 After sending away the crowds, he got into the boat and went to the region of Magadan.[a]

32 (A)Gesù, chiamati a sé i suoi discepoli, disse: «Io ho pietà di questa folla; perché già da tre giorni sta con me e non ha da mangiare; non voglio rimandarli digiuni, affinché non vengano meno per strada». 33 I [suoi] discepoli gli dissero: «Dove potremmo trovare, in un luogo deserto, tanti pani da saziare una così grande folla?» 34 Gesù chiese loro: «Quanti pani avete?» Essi risposero: «Sette, e pochi pesciolini». 35 Allora egli ordinò alla folla di accomodarsi per terra. 36 Poi prese i sette pani e i pesci; e, dopo aver reso grazie, li spezzò e li diede ai [suoi] discepoli, e i discepoli alla folla. 37 E tutti mangiarono e furono saziati; e, dei pezzi avanzati, si raccolsero sette panieri pieni. 38 Quelli che avevano mangiato erano quattromila uomini, senza contare le donne e i bambini.

32 Da rief Jesus seine Jünger zu sich und sprach: Ich bin voll Mitleid mit der Menge; denn sie verharren nun schon drei Tage bei mir und haben nichts zu essen, und ich will sie nicht ohne Speise entlassen, damit sie nicht auf dem Weg verschmachten.
33 Und seine Jünger sprachen zu ihm: Woher sollen wir in der Einöde so viele Brote nehmen, um eine so große Menge zu sättigen?
34 Und Jesus sprach zu ihnen: Wie viele Brote habt ihr? Sie sprachen: Sieben, und ein paar Fische.
35 Da gebot er dem Volk, sich auf die Erde zu lagern,
36 und nahm die sieben Brote und die Fische, dankte, brach sie und gab sie seinen Jüngern; die Jünger aber gaben sie dem Volk.
37 Und sie aßen alle und wurden satt und hoben auf, was an Brocken übrig blieb, sieben Körbe voll.
38 Es waren aber etwa 4 000 Männer, die gegessen hatten, ohne Frauen und Kinder.
39 Und nachdem er die Volksmenge entlassen hatte, stieg er in das Schiff und kam in die Gegend von Magdala.

33 „Honnan vehetnénk ezen az elhagyatott helyen annyi kenyeret, hogy ekkora tömeget jóllakassunk?” — kérdezték a tanítványok.
34 Jézus megkérdezte: „Hány kenyeretek van?”
„Hét — válaszolták —, és néhány kisebb halunk.”
35 Ezután Jézus szólt az embereknek, hogy telepedjenek le a földre. 36 Majd fogta a hét kenyeret és a halakat, és miután hálát adott Istennek, tört az ételből, és kezdte osztani a tanítványainak, azok pedig az embereknek. 37 Mindnyájan ettek, és jóllaktak. Utána összeszedték a maradékot, és hét kosarat töltöttek meg a darabokkal. 38 A tömegben körülbelül négyezer férfi volt, s rajtuk kívül még az asszonyok és a gyerekek. 39 Miután Jézus elbocsátotta az embereket, beszállt egy bárkába, és Magadán vidékére ment.

32 Jésus appela ses disciples et leur dit : J’ai pitié de cette foule. Voilà déjà trois jours qu’ils sont restés là, avec moi, et ils n’ont rien à manger. Je ne veux pas les renvoyer à jeun, de peur que les forces leur manquent sur le chemin du retour.
33 Ses disciples lui dirent : Où pourrions-nous trouver, dans ce lieu désert, assez de pains pour nourrir une telle foule ?
34 – Combien de pains avez-vous ?
– Sept, répondirent-ils, et quelques petits poissons.
35 Alors il invita tout le monde à s’asseoir par terre. 36 Il prit ensuite les sept pains et les poissons et, après avoir remercié Dieu, il les partagea et les donna aux disciples, qui les distribuèrent à la foule. 37 Tous mangèrent à satiété. On ramassa sept corbeilles pleines des morceaux qui restaient. 38 Ceux qui furent ainsi nourris étaient au nombre de quatre mille hommes, sans compter les femmes et les enfants.
39 Après avoir congédié la foule, Jésus monta dans un bateau et se rendit dans la région de Magadan.
