⁵⁴ And ^(A)He came to ^[a]His hometown and ^(B)began teaching them in their synagogue, with the result that ^(C)they were astonished, and said, “Where did this man acquire this wisdom and these ^[b]miraculous powers?

⁵⁷ And they took ^(A)offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, “^(B)A prophet is not dishonored except in his ^[a]hometown and in his own household.”

¹⁶ And He came to ^(A)Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and as was His custom, ^(B)He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and ^(C)stood up to read.

²³ And He said to them, “No doubt you will ^[a]quote this proverb to Me: ‘Physician, heal yourself! All the miracles that we heard were done ^(A)in Capernaum, do here in ^(B)your hometown as well.’”
