The Parables of the Mustard Seed and the Yeast^(A)

³¹ He told them another parable, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed which a man took and sowed in his field. ³² This indeed is the least of all seeds, but when it has grown, it is the greatest among herbs and is a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in its branches.”

³³ He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like yeast which a woman took and mixed in sixty pounds^[a] of meal until it had leavened the whole batch.”

The Parable of the Mustard Seed^(A)

³⁰ He said, “To what shall we liken the kingdom of God, or with what parable shall we compare it? ³¹ It is like a grain of mustard seed which, when it is sown in the ground, is the smallest seed on earth. ³² Yet when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all shrubs, and shoots out great branches, so that the birds of the air may nest in its shade.”
