⁶ And blessed is he who is not ^(A)offended because of Me.”

^14 (A)But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial^(A)

³¹ Then Jesus said to them, ^(B)“All of you will ^(C)be ^[a]made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written:

²³ He said to them, “You will surely say this proverb to Me, ‘Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we have heard done in ^(A)Capernaum,^[a] do also here in ^(B)Your country.’ ” ²⁴ Then He said, “Assuredly, I say to you, no ^(C)prophet is accepted in his own country. ²⁵ But I tell you truly, ^(D)many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a great famine throughout all the land; ²⁶ but to none of them was Elijah sent except to ^[b]Zarephath, in the region of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. ^27 (E)And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian.”

²⁸ So all those in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were ^(F)filled with ^[c]wrath, ^29 (G)and rose up and thrust Him out of the city; and they led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw Him down over the cliff.

³² Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, ^[a]by the works of the law. For ^(A)they stumbled at that stumbling stone. ³³ As it is written:

Keeping the Word

²⁷ And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, ^(A)“Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!”

²⁸ But He said, ^(B)“More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”

¹⁰ And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.

^66 (A)From that time many of His disciples went ^[a]back and walked with Him no more.
