Matthew 10:33-39

³³but ^(A)whoever denies me before men, ^(B)I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.

Not Peace, but a Sword

³⁴^(C)“Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. ^(D)I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. ³⁵^(E)For I have come ^(F)to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. ³⁶^(G)And a person's enemies will be those of his own household. ³⁷^(H)Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. ³⁸And ^(I)whoever does not take his cross and ^(J)follow me is not worthy of me. ³⁹^(K)Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

    they are all without knowledge;
they are all silent ^(B)dogs;
    they cannot bark,
dreaming, lying down,
    loving to slumber.
¹¹^(C)The dogs have a mighty appetite;
    they never have enough.
But ^(D)they are shepherds who have no understanding;
    they have all turned to their own way,
    ^(E)each to his own gain, one and all.
