Conception and Birth of Jesus

¹⁸ Now the birth of Jesus the ^[a]Messiah was as follows: when His ^(A)mother Mary had been ^[b]betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was ^(B)found to be pregnant by the Holy Spirit. ¹⁹ And her husband Joseph, since he was a righteous man and did not want to disgrace her, planned to ^[c](C)send her away secretly. ²⁰ But when he had thought this over, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “^(D)Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for ^[d]the Child who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. ²¹ She will give birth to a Son; and ^(E)you shall name Him Jesus, for ^[e]He ^(F)will save His people from their sins.”

³¹ And behold, you will conceive in your womb and give birth to a son, and you ^(A)shall name Him Jesus.

^5 (A)Have this attitude ^[a]in yourselves which was also in ^(B)Christ Jesus, ⁶ who, as He already ^(C)existed in the ^(D)form of God, ^(E)did not consider equality with God something to be ^[b]grasped, ⁷ but ^[c](F)emptied Himself by taking the form of a ^(G)bond-servant and ^[d](H)being born in the likeness of men. ⁸ And being found in appearance as a man, ^(I)He humbled Himself by becoming ^(J)obedient to the point of death: ^(K)death ^[e]on a cross. ^9 (L)For this reason also God ^(M)highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him ^(N)the name which is above every name, ¹⁰ so that at the name of Jesus ^(O)every knee will bow, of ^(P)those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, ¹¹ and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is ^(Q)Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

⁹ For in Him all the ^(A)fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form,

¹⁶ Beyond question, great is ^(A)the mystery of godliness:

⁵ For to which of the angels did He ever say,

And again,

⁶ And ^[a]when He again ^(C)brings the firstborn into ^[b](D)the world, He says,

⁷ And regarding the angels He says,

⁸ But regarding the Son He says,

¹⁰ And,

¹³ But to which of the angels has He ever said,

1 ^(A)In the beginning was ^(B)the Word, and the Word was ^(C)with God, and ^(D)the Word was God. ^2 [a]He was in the beginning with God. ^3 (E)All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him ^[b]not even one thing came into being that has come into being.

The Word Made Flesh

¹⁴ And ^(A)the Word ^(B)became flesh, and ^(C)dwelt among us; and ^(D)we saw His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of ^(E)grace and ^(F)truth.

²² He who ^(A)committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth;
