The Ruler’s Daughter and a Woman Healed(A)

18 While He was speaking these things to them, a certain ruler came and worshipped Him, saying, “My daughter is even now dead. But come and lay Your hand on her, and she will live.” 19 Jesus rose and followed him, and so did His disciples.

20 Then a woman, who was ill with a flow of blood for twelve years, came behind Him and touched the hem of His garment. 21 For she said within herself, “If I may just touch His garment, I shall be healed.”

22 But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her, He said, “Daughter, be of good comfort. Your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well instantly.

23 When Jesus came to the ruler’s house and saw the musicians and the mourners making a noise, 24 He said to them, “Depart. The girl is not dead, but is sleeping.” And they laughed Him to scorn. 25 But when the people were put outside, He went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose. 26 The news of this went out into all that land.

18 While he was saying this, a synagogue leader came and knelt before him(B) and said, “My daughter has just died. But come and put your hand on her,(C) and she will live.” 19 Jesus got up and went with him, and so did his disciples.

20 Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak.(D) 21 She said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.”

22 Jesus turned and saw her. “Take heart,(E) daughter,” he said, “your faith has healed you.”(F) And the woman was healed at that moment.(G)

23 When Jesus entered the synagogue leader’s house and saw the noisy crowd and people playing pipes,(H) 24 he said, “Go away. The girl is not dead(I) but asleep.”(J) But they laughed at him. 25 After the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took the girl by the hand, and she got up.(K) 26 News of this spread through all that region.(L)

Jairus’ Daughter and the Woman Who Touched Jesus’ Garment(A)

40 When Jesus returned, the crowd gladly received Him, for they were all waiting for Him. 41 Then a man named Jairus, who was a ruler of the synagogue, came and fell down at Jesus’ feet, and begged Him to come to his house, 42 for he had an only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she was dying.

As He went, the people crowded Him. 43 And a woman having a hemorrhage for twelve years, who had spent all her living on physicians, but could not be healed by anyone, 44 came behind Him, and touched the fringe of His garment. And immediately her hemorrhage dried up.

45 Jesus said, “Who touched Me?”

When everyone denied it, Peter and those who were with Him said, “Master, the crowds are pressing against You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’

46 But Jesus said, “Someone touched Me, for I perceive that power has gone out from Me.”

47 When the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling. And falling down before Him, she declared to Him before all the people why she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately. 48 Then He said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer. Your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”

49 While He was still speaking, someone from the synagogue ruler’s house came, saying to Jairus, “Your daughter is dead. Do not trouble the Teacher.”

50 But when Jesus heard it, He answered him, “Do not fear. Only believe, and she will be made well.”

51 When He came into the house, He permitted no one to go in except Peter, John and James, and the father and mother of the girl. 52 All wept and mourned for her. But He said, “Do not weep. She is not dead but sleeping.”

53 They laughed at Him, knowing that she was dead. 54 But He put them all outside and took her by the hand and called, saying, “Little girl, arise.” 55 Her spirit returned, and she arose immediately. And He told them to give her food. 56 Her parents were astonished, but He commanded them to tell no one what had happened.

Jesus Raises a Dead Girl and Heals a Sick Woman(A)

40 Now when Jesus returned, a crowd welcomed him, for they were all expecting him. 41 Then a man named Jairus, a synagogue leader,(B) came and fell at Jesus’ feet, pleading with him to come to his house 42 because his only daughter, a girl of about twelve, was dying.

As Jesus was on his way, the crowds almost crushed him. 43 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding(C) for twelve years,[a] but no one could heal her. 44 She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak,(D) and immediately her bleeding stopped.

45 “Who touched me?” Jesus asked.

When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master,(E) the people are crowding and pressing against you.”

46 But Jesus said, “Someone touched me;(F) I know that power has gone out from me.”(G)

47 Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. 48 Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you.(H) Go in peace.”(I)

49 While Jesus was still speaking, someone came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader.(J) “Your daughter is dead,” he said. “Don’t bother the teacher anymore.”

50 Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.”

51 When he arrived at the house of Jairus, he did not let anyone go in with him except Peter, John and James,(K) and the child’s father and mother. 52 Meanwhile, all the people were wailing and mourning(L) for her. “Stop wailing,” Jesus said. “She is not dead but asleep.”(M)

53 They laughed at him, knowing that she was dead. 54 But he took her by the hand and said, “My child, get up!”(N) 55 Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up. Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat. 56 Her parents were astonished, but he ordered them not to tell anyone what had happened.(O)
