Matthew 4:9-19

9 And he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.” 10 Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, (A)Satan! For (B)it is written,
11 Then the devil left him, and behold, (E)angels came and were ministering to him.
Jesus Begins His Ministry
12 Now when he heard that (F)John had been arrested, (G)he withdrew into Galilee. 13 And leaving (H)Nazareth he went and lived in (I)Capernaum by (J)the sea, in the territory of (K)Zebulun and Naphtali, 14 (L)so that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled:
15 (M)“The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,
the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles—
16 (N)the people dwelling in darkness
have seen a great light,
and for those dwelling in the region and (O)shadow of death,
on them a light has dawned.”
17 (P)From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, (Q)“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”[a]
Jesus Calls the First Disciples
18 (R)While walking by (S)the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. 19 And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you (T)fishers of men.”[b]

9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”
10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan!(A) For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’[a]”(B)
11 Then the devil left him,(C) and angels came and attended him.(D)
Jesus Begins to Preach
12 When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison,(E) he withdrew to Galilee.(F) 13 Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum,(G) which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali— 14 to fulfill(H) what was said through the prophet Isaiah:
15 “Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali,
the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan,
Galilee of the Gentiles—
16 the people living in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death
a light has dawned.”[b](I)
17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven(J) has come near.”

18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee,(L) he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter(M) and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 “Come, follow me,”(N) Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”
