23 He went around all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues,[a] proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and curing every disease and illness among the people.(A) 24 [b]His fame spread to all of Syria, and they brought to him all who were sick with various diseases and racked with pain, those who were possessed, lunatics, and paralytics, and he cured them. 25 (B)And great crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis,[c] Jerusalem, and Judea, and from beyond the Jordan followed him.

- 4:23 Their synagogues: Matthew usually designates the Jewish synagogues as their synagogue(s) (Mt 9:35; 10:17; 12:9; 13:54) or, in address to Jews, your synagogues (Mt 23:34), an indication that he wrote after the break between church and synagogue.

Jesus Heals the Sick
23 Jesus went throughout Galilee,(A) teaching in their synagogues,(B) proclaiming the good news(C) of the kingdom,(D) and healing every disease and sickness among the people.(E) 24 News about him spread all over Syria,(F) and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed,(G) those having seizures,(H) and the paralyzed;(I) and he healed them. 25 Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis,[a] Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him.(J)

- 3:7–19 This overview of the Galilean ministry manifests the power of Jesus to draw people to himself through his teaching and deeds of power. The crowds of Jews from many regions surround Jesus (Mk 3:7–12). This phenomenon prepares the way for creating a new people of Israel. 7 Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the lake, and a large crowd from Galilee followed.(B) 8 When they heard about all he was doing, many people came to him from Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, and the regions across the Jordan and around Tyre and Sidon.(C) 9 Because of the crowd he told his disciples to have a small boat ready for him, to keep the people from crowding him. 10 For he had healed many,(D) so that those with diseases were pushing forward to touch him.(E)
