Matthew 3:8-10

New King James Version

⁸Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance, ⁹and do not think to say to yourselves, ^(A)‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. ¹⁰And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. ^(B)Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

⁸Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.^(A) ⁹And do not think you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’^(B) I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. ¹⁰The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.^(C)
