3 For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying:
(A)“The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
(B)‘Prepare the way of the Lord;
Make His paths straight.’ ”
4 Now (C)John himself was clothed in camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist; and his food was (D)locusts and (E)wild honey. 5 (F)Then Jerusalem, all Judea, and all the region around the Jordan went out to him 6 (G)and were baptized by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins.
7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, (H)“Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from (I)the wrath to come? 8 Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance,

3 This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah:
“A voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.’”[a](A)
4 John’s(B) clothes were made of camel’s hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist.(C) His food was locusts(D) and wild honey. 5 People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region of the Jordan. 6 Confessing their sins, they were baptized(E) by him in the Jordan River.
7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them: “You brood of vipers!(F) Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?(G) 8 Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.(H)
