27 (A)Then when the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into (B)the [a]Praetorium, they gathered the whole Roman [b](C)cohort around Him. 28 And they stripped Him and (D)put a scarlet robe on Him. 29 (E)And after twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a [c]reed in His right hand; and they knelt down before Him and mocked Him, saying, “(F)Hail, King of the Jews!” 30 (G)And they spat on Him, and took the reed and began to beat Him on the head.

16 (A)So the soldiers took Him away into (B)the [a]palace (that is, the [b]Praetorium), and they *called together the whole Roman [c](C)cohort. 17 And they *dressed Him up in purple, and after twisting a crown of thorns, they *put it on Him; 18 and they began to greet Him, “Hail, King of the Jews!” 19 And they kept beating His head with a [d]reed, and spitting on Him; and kneeling, they were bowing down before Him.
