Matthew 27:22-24
New American Standard Bible
22 Pilate *said to them, “Then what shall I do with Jesus (A)who is called Christ?” They all *said, “[a]Crucify Him!” 23 But he said, “Why, what evil has He done?” Yet they kept shouting all the more, saying, “[b]Crucify Him!”
24 Now when Pilate saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but rather that (B)a riot was starting, he took water and (C)washed his hands in front of the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of (D)this Man’s blood; (E)you yourselves shall see.”

New International Version
22 “What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called the Messiah?”(A) Pilate asked.
They all answered, “Crucify him!”
23 “Why? What crime has he committed?” asked Pilate.
But they shouted all the louder, “Crucify him!”
24 When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar(B) was starting, he took water and washed his hands(C) in front of the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,”(D) he said. “It is your responsibility!”(E)
