²⁶ While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it^(A) and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.”

⁵² and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life.

⁵⁸ Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body, and Pilate ordered that it be given to him.

⁴³ Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent member of the Council,^(A) who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God,^(B) went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body.

⁴ “I tell you, my friends,^(A) do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more.

¹⁹ And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it,^(A) and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”

⁵² Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body.

⁵⁵ The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee^(A) followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it.

³¹ Now it was the day of Preparation,^(A) and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jewish leaders did not want the bodies left on the crosses^(B) during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down.
