37 (A) When the Son of Man appears, things will be just as they were when Noah lived. 38 People were eating, drinking, and getting married right up to the day the flood came and Noah went into the big boat. 39 (B) They didn't know anything was happening until the flood came and swept them all away. This is how it will be when the Son of Man appears.

40 Two men will be in the same field, but only one will be taken. The other will be left. 41 Two women will be together grinding grain, but only one will be taken. The other will be left. 42 So be on your guard! You don't know when your Lord will come. 43 (C) Homeowners never know when a thief is coming, and they are always on guard to keep one from breaking in. 44 Always be ready! You don't know when the Son of Man will come.

37 As it was in the days of Noah,(A) so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage,(B) up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.(C) 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left.(D) 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.(E)

42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.(F) 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming,(G) he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready,(H) because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
