Matthew 21:42-44

42 Jesus *said to them, “Did you never read in the Scriptures,
‘(A)A stone which the builders rejected,
This has become the [a]chief cornerstone;
This came about from the Lord,
And it is marvelous in our eyes’?
43 Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a [b]people producing its fruit. 44 And (B)the one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; and on whomever it falls, it will crush him.”

Romans 9:32-33

32 Why? Because they did not pursue it [a]by faith, but as though they could [b]by works. They stumbled over (A)the stumbling stone, 33 just as it is written:
“(B)Behold, I am laying in Zion (C)a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense,
(D)And the one who believes in Him (E)will not be [c]put to shame.”
