Cleansing the Temple Complex
12 Jesus went into the temple complex[a](A) and drove out all those buying and selling in the temple. He overturned the money changers’ tables and the chairs of those selling doves.(B) 13 And He said to them, “It is written, My house will be called a house of prayer.[b] But you are making it a den of thieves!”(C)[c]
Children Praise Jesus
14 The blind and the lame came to Him in the temple complex, and He healed them. 15 When the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonders that He did and the children shouting in the temple complex, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant 16 and said to Him, “Do You hear what these children are saying?”
“Yes,” Jesus told them. “Have you never read:
17 Then He left them, went out of the city to Bethany,(E) and spent the night there.
The Barren Fig Tree
18 Early in the morning,(F) as He was returning to the city, He was hungry. 19 Seeing a lone fig tree by the road, He went up to it and found nothing on it except leaves. And He said to it, “May no fruit ever come from you again!” At once the fig tree withered.

Jesus at the Temple(A)
12 Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying(B) and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers(C) and the benches of those selling doves.(D) 13 “It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’[a](E) but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’[b]”(F)
14 The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them.(G) 15 But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple courts, “Hosanna to the Son of David,”(H) they were indignant.(I)
16 “Do you hear what these children are saying?” they asked him.
“Yes,” replied Jesus, “have you never read,
17 And he left them and went out of the city to Bethany,(K) where he spent the night.
Jesus Curses a Fig Tree(L)
18 Early in the morning, as Jesus was on his way back to the city, he was hungry. 19 Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” Immediately the tree withered.(M)

47 Every day He was teaching(D) in the temple complex. The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people were looking for a way to destroy(E) Him, 48 but they could not find a way to do it, because all the people(F) were captivated by what they heard.[c]
