21 And He said to her, “What do you desire?” She *said to Him, “Say that in Your kingdom these two sons of mine (A)shall sit, one at Your right, and one at Your left.” 22 But Jesus replied, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able (B)to drink the cup that I am about to drink?” They *said to Him, “We are able.” 23 He *said to them, (C)My cup you shall drink; but to sit at My right and at My left is not Mine to give, (D)but it is for those for whom it has been (E)prepared by My Father.”

21 “What is it you want?” he asked.

She said, “Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom.”(A)

22 “You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said to them. “Can you drink the cup(B) I am going to drink?”

“We can,” they answered.

23 Jesus said to them, “You will indeed drink from my cup,(C) but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared by my Father.”
