16 ¶ Then Herod, seeing that he was mocked of the Wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the male children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently searched out of the Wise men.
17 Then was that fulfilled which is spoken [a]by the Prophet Jeremiah, saying,
18 (A)In Ramah was [b]a voice heard, mourning, and weeping, and great howling: [c]Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they were not.

16 When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi. 17 Then what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled:(A)
