¹⁹ “Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, ^(A)it shall be done for them ^[a]by My Father who is in heaven.

²² And ^(A)all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”

²⁴ Therefore I say to you, ^(A)all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.

^13 (A)Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that ^(B)the Father may be glorified in the Son.

⁷ If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ^(A)ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

^16 (A)You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and ^(B)bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that ^(C)whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.

Prayer Promises

^23 (A)In that day ^(B)you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, ^(C)if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you. ^24 (D)Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your ^(E)joy may be made full.

²⁵ “These things I have spoken to you in ^[a](F)figurative language; ^(G)an hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in ^[b]figurative language, but will tell you plainly of the Father. ^26 (H)In that day ^(I)you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I will request of the Father on your behalf; ²⁷ for ^(J)the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and ^(K)have believed that ^(L)I came forth from the Father. ^28 (M)I came forth from the Father and have come into the world; I am leaving the world again and ^(N)going to the Father.”

²⁹ His disciples *said, “Lo, now You are speaking plainly and are not ^[c]using ^(O)a figure of speech. ³⁰ Now we know that You know all things, and have no need for anyone to question You; by this we ^(P)believe that You ^(Q)came from God.” ³¹ Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe? ³² Behold, ^(R)an hour is coming, and has already come, for ^(S)you to be scattered, each to ^(T)his own home, and to leave Me alone; and yet ^(U)I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. ³³ These things I have spoken to you, so that ^(V)in Me you may have peace. ^(W)In the world you have tribulation, but ^(X)take courage; ^(Y)I have overcome the world.”

⁵ But if any of you ^(A)lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and ^[a]without reproach, and ^(B)it will be given to him. ⁶ But he must ^(C)ask in faith ^(D)without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, ^(E)driven and tossed by the wind. ⁷ For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, ⁸ being a ^[b](F)double-minded man, ^(G)unstable in all his ways.

^9 (H)But the ^[c]brother of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position; ¹⁰ and the rich man is to glory in his humiliation, because ^(I)like ^[d]flowering grass he will pass away. ¹¹ For the sun rises with ^[e](J)a scorching wind and ^(K)withers the grass; and its flower falls off and the beauty of its appearance is destroyed; so too the rich man in the midst of his pursuits will fade away.

^12 (L)Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has ^[f]been approved, he will receive ^(M)the crown of life which the Lord ^(N)has promised to those who ^(O)love Him. ¹³ Let no one say when he is tempted, “^(P)I am being tempted ^[g]by God”; for God cannot be tempted ^[h]by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. ¹⁴ But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. ¹⁵ Then ^(Q)when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when ^(R)sin ^[i]is accomplished, it brings forth death. ^16 (S)Do not be ^[j]deceived, ^(T)my beloved brethren. ¹⁷ Every good thing given and every perfect gift is ^(U)from above, coming down from ^(V)the Father of lights, ^(W)with whom there is no variation or ^[k]shifting shadow. ¹⁸ In the exercise of ^(X)His will He ^(Y)brought us forth by ^(Z)the word of truth, so that we would be ^[l]a kind of ^(AA)first fruits ^[m]among His creatures.

^19 [n]This ^(AB)you know, ^(AC)my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, ^(AD)slow to speak and ^(AE)slow to anger; ²⁰ for ^(AF)the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God. ²¹ Therefore, ^(AG)putting aside all filthiness and all ^[o]that remains of wickedness, in ^[p]humility receive ^(AH)the word implanted, which is able to save your souls. ^22 (AI)But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. ²³ For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his ^[q]natural face ^(AJ)in a mirror; ²⁴ for once he has looked at himself and gone away, ^[r]he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. ²⁵ But one who looks intently at the perfect law, ^(AK)the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but ^[s]an effectual doer, this man will be ^(AL)blessed in ^[t]what he does.

²⁶ If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not ^[u](AM)bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless. ²⁷ Pure and undefiled religion ^(AN)in the sight of our God and Father is this: to ^(AO)visit ^(AP)orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained ^[v]by ^(AQ)the world.

²² and ^(A)whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we ^(B)keep His commandments and do ^(C)the things that are pleasing in His sight.
