²⁰ He said to them, ^(A)“Because of your little faith. For ^(B)truly, I say to you, ^(C)if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, ^(D)you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and ^(E)nothing will be impossible for you.”^[a]

²² And Jesus answered them, “Have ^(A)faith in God. ^23 (B)Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ^(C)‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not ^(D)doubt in his heart, but ^(E)believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. ²⁴ Therefore I tell you, ^(F)whatever you ask in prayer, ^(G)believe that you ^(H)have received^[a] it, and it will be yours. ²⁵ And whenever ^(I)you stand praying, ^(J)forgive, ^(K)if you have anything against anyone, so that ^(L)your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”^[b]

¹⁷ For in it ^(A)the righteousness of God is revealed ^(B)from faith for faith,^{[a] (C)}as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”^[b]

The Righteousness of God Through Faith

²¹ But now ^(A)the righteousness of God ^(B)has been manifested apart from the law, although ^(C)the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— ²² the righteousness of God ^(D)through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. ^(E)For there is no distinction: ²³ for ^(F)all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, ^24 (G)and are justified ^(H)by his grace as a gift, ^(I)through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, ²⁵ whom God ^(J)put forward as ^(K)a propitiation ^(L)by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in ^(M)his divine forbearance he had passed over ^(N)former sins. ²⁶ It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

^27 (O)Then what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By a law of works? No, but by the law of faith. ²⁸ For we hold that one is justified by faith ^(P)apart from works of the law.

³ For what does the Scripture say? ^(A)“Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.” ⁴ Now ^(B)to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due. ⁵ And to the one who does not work but ^(C)believes in^[a] him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness,

Peace with God Through Faith

5 ^(A)Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, ^(B)we^[a] have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. ² Through him we have also ^(C)obtained access by faith^[b] into this grace ^(D)in which we stand, and ^(E)we^[c] rejoice^[d] in hope of the glory of God.

⁸ But what does it say? ^(A)“The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); ⁹ because, if ^(B)you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and ^(C)believe in your heart ^(D)that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. ¹⁰ For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. ¹¹ For the Scripture says, ^(E)“Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.”

¹⁷ So ^(A)faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

⁸ For ^(A)by grace you have been saved ^(B)through faith. And this is ^(C)not your own doing; ^(D)it is the gift of God, ^9 (E)not a result of works, ^(F)so that no one may boast.
