Jesus Predicts His Death(A)

21 From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem(B) and suffer many things(C) at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law,(D) and that he must be killed(E) and on the third day(F) be raised to life.(G)

22 Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to you!”

23 Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan!(H) You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”

21 從 此 , 耶 穌 才 指 示 門 徒 , 他 必 須 上 耶 路 撒 冷 去 , 受 長 老 、 祭 司 長 、 文 士 許 多 的 苦 , 並 且 被 殺 , 第 三 日 復 活 。

22 彼 得 就 拉 著 他 , 勸 他 說 : 主 阿 , 萬 不 可 如 此 ! 這 事 必 不 臨 到 你 身 上 。

23 耶 穌 轉 過 來 , 對 彼 得 說 : 撒 但 , 退 我 後 邊 去 罷 ! 你 是 絆 我 腳 的 ; 因 為 你 不 體 貼 神 的 意 思 , 只 體 貼 人 的 意 思 。

22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.

23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

Causing to Stumble

“If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.(A) Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!(B)

凡 使 這 信 我 的 一 個 小 子 跌 倒 的 , 倒 不 如 把 大 磨 石 拴 在 這 人 的 頸 項 上 , 沉 在 深 海 裡 。

這 世 界 有 禍 了 , 因 為 將 人 絆 倒 ; 絆 倒 人 的 事 是 免 不 了 的 , 但 那 絆 倒 人 的 有 禍 了 !

But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!
