The Demand for a Sign
16 The Pharisees and Sadducees came, and to test Jesus[a] they asked him to show them a sign from heaven. 2 He answered them, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’ 3 And in the morning, ‘It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.[b] 4 An evil and adulterous generation asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” Then he left them and went away.

5 When the disciples reached the other side, they had forgotten to bring any bread. 6 Jesus said to them, “Watch out, and beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

16 (A)I farisei e i sadducei si avvicinarono a lui per metterlo alla prova e gli chiesero di mostrare loro un segno dal cielo. 2 Ma egli rispose loro: {«Quando si fa sera, voi dite: “Bel tempo, perché il cielo rosseggia!” 3 e al mattino: “Oggi tempesta, perché il cielo rosseggia cupo!” [Ipocriti!] L’aspetto del cielo lo sapete dunque discernere, e i segni dei tempi non riuscite a discernerli?} 4 Una generazione malvagia e adultera chiede un segno, e segno non le sarà dato se non il segno di Giona[a]». E, lasciatili, se ne andò.
5 I [suoi] discepoli, passati all’altra riva, si erano dimenticati di prendere dei pani. 6 E Gesù disse loro: «Guardatevi bene dal lievito dei farisei e dei sadducei».

16 Farizeusok és a szadduceusok jöttek Jézushoz, hogy próbára tegyék. Arra kérték, hogy tegyen valami csodát, mutasson nekik mennyei jelt bizonyítékul Istentől.
2 Ő azonban így válaszolt nekik: „Napnyugta idején felnéztek az égre, és azt mondjátok: »Holnap szép idő lesz, mert vörös az ég alja.« 3 Korán reggel felnéztek az égre, és azt mondjátok: »Ma vihar lesz, mert az ég vörös és felhős.« Mikor látjátok az égbolt képét, megértitek milyen idő következik, igaz? Akkor a mostani idők jeleit miért nem értitek meg? 4 Ez a gonosz és hűtlen nemzedék mindenáron valamilyen csodás jelt akar látni Istentől származó bizonyítékul. De nem fognak semmilyen csodát látni, csupán azt, amely Jónás[a] prófétával történt!” Ezzel otthagyta őket, és továbbment.

16 Des pharisiens et des sadducéens abordèrent Jésus pour lui tendre un piège. Ils lui demandèrent de leur montrer un signe miraculeux venant du ciel.
2 Il leur répondit : [Au crépuscule, vous dites bien : « Demain, il fera beau, car le ciel est rouge. » 3 Ou bien, à l’aurore : « Aujourd’hui, on aura de l’orage, car le ciel est rouge sombre. » Ainsi, vous savez reconnaître ce qu’indique l’aspect du ciel ; mais vous êtes incapables de reconnaître les signes de notre temps[a].] 4 Ces gens de notre temps qui sont mauvais et infidèles à Dieu réclament un signe miraculeux ! Un signe … il ne leur en sera pas accordé d’autre que celui de Jonas.
Là-dessus, il les quitta et partit de là.

5 En passant de l’autre côté du lac, les disciples avaient oublié d’emporter du pain. 6 Jésus leur dit : Faites bien attention : gardez-vous du levain des pharisiens et des sadducéens !
