Matthew 13:21-22
English Standard Version
21 yet he has no root in himself, but (A)endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately (B)he falls away.[a] 22 As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but (C)the cares of (D)the world and (E)the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.

21 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.(A) 22 The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth(B) choke the word, making it unfruitful.
