¹⁷ But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to councils, and in their synagogues they will scourge you; ¹⁸ yea and before governors and kings shall ye be brought for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. ¹⁹ But when they deliver you up, be not anxious how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that hour what ye shall speak. ²⁰ For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father that speaketh in you. ²¹ And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and the father his child: and children shall rise up against parents, and ^[a]cause them to be put to death. ²² And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved. ²³ But when they persecute you in this city, flee into the next: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone through the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

²⁴ A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a ^[b]servant above his lord. ²⁵ It is enough for the disciple that he be as his teacher, and the ^[c]servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house ^[d]Beelzebub, how much more them of his household!

⁹ Then shall they deliver you up unto tribulation, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all the nations for my name’s sake. ¹⁰ And then shall many stumble, and shall ^[a]deliver up one another, and shall hate one another. ¹¹ And many false prophets shall arise, and shall lead many astray. ¹² And because iniquity shall be multiplied, the love of the many shall wax cold. ¹³ But he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved. ¹⁴ And ^[b]this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole ^[c]world for a testimony unto all the nations; and then shall the end come.

¹¹ And when they bring you before the synagogues, and the rulers, and the authorities, be not anxious how or what ye shall answer, or what ye shall say: ¹² for the Holy Spirit shall teach you in that very hour what ye ought to say.

⁴⁰ The disciple is not above his teacher: but every one when he is perfected shall be as his teacher.

¹² But before all these things, they shall lay their hands on you, and shall persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, ^[a]bringing you before kings and governors for my name’s sake. ¹³ It shall turn out unto you for a testimony. ¹⁴ Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate beforehand how to answer: ¹⁵ for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to withstand or to gainsay. ¹⁶ But ye shall be ^[b]delivered up even by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolk, and friends; and some of you ^[c]shall they cause to be put to death. ¹⁷ And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake. ¹⁸ And not a hair of your head shall perish. ¹⁹ In your ^[d]patience ye shall win your ^[e]souls.

¹⁶ Verily, verily, I say unto you, A ^[a]servant is not greater than his lord; neither ^[b]one that is sent greater than he that sent him.
