19 Daarna vertrok Jezus uit Galilea. Hij stak de Jordaan over en ging naar Judea. 2 Grote groepen mensen volgden Hem en Hij genas alle mensen die ziek waren.
3 Er kwamen Farizeeërs naar Hem toe, om Hem een strikvraag te stellen. Ze hoopten dat Hij iets verkeerds zou zeggen. Ze vroegen: "Mag iemand van zijn vrouw scheiden, om wat voor reden dan ook?" 4 Hij antwoordde: "Hebben jullie niet gelezen dat hun Maker hen vanaf het begin van de wereld als man en vrouw heeft gemaakt? 5 God zei toen: 'Daarom zal een man weggaan bij zijn vader en moeder en van zijn vrouw houden en trouw aan haar zijn. 6 Vanaf dan zijn ze niet meer twee aparte mensen, maar samen één geheel.' Wat God zo tot één geheel heeft gemaakt, zou een mens niet meer uit elkaar moeten halen." 7 Toen zeiden de Farizeeërs tegen Hem: "Waarom heeft Mozes dan gezegd dat een man zijn vrouw mag wegsturen als hij haar een brief meegeeft waarin staat dat hij van haar gescheiden is?" 8 Jezus zei tegen hen: "Mozes heeft gezegd dat jullie je vrouw mogen wegsturen, omdat hij wist dat jullie hard zijn. Maar vanaf het begin was dat niet de bedoeling. 9 Maar Ik zeg jullie: je mag alleen met een andere vrouw trouwen, als je je vrouw hebt weggestuurd omdat ze met een andere man naar bed is geweest. Als je haar om een andere reden wegstuurt en hertrouwt, ben je ontrouw aan haar. En de man die met de weggestuurde vrouw trouwt, maakt dat zij ontrouw is aan haar eerste man."[a]
10 Toen zeiden de leerlingen tegen Hem: "Als het zo zit, kun je maar beter niet trouwen." 11 Maar Hij zei tegen hen: "Niet iedereen begrijpt wat Ik nu ga zeggen. Je begrijpt het alleen als God je daarbij helpt. 12 Sommige mensen trouwen niet omdat ze onvruchtbaar zijn geboren. Anderen trouwen niet omdat mensen hen onvruchtbaar hebben gemaakt. Weer anderen trouwen niet omdat ze er zelf voor kiezen om onvruchtbaar te blijven en geen kinderen te krijgen. Ze kiezen daarvoor vanwege Gods Koninkrijk. Probeer dit te begrijpen."
Jezus zegent de kinderen
13 De mensen brachten hun kleine kinderen naar Jezus toe. Ze wilden dat Hij hun de handen op zou leggen en voor ze zou bidden. Maar de leerlingen stuurden hen weg. 14 Maar Jezus zei: "Laat die kinderen met rust. Laat ze naar Mij toe komen en houd ze niet tegen! Want het Koninkrijk van God is voor mensen zoals zij." 15 En Hij zegende de kinderen. Daarna reisde Hij verder.
De rijke man
16 Er kwam iemand naar Jezus toe die vroeg: "Goede Meester, wat voor goeds moet ik doen om het eeuwige leven te krijgen?" 17 Jezus zei tegen de man: "Waarom noem je Mij 'goed'? Er is er maar Eén die goed is, en dat is God. Maar als je het eeuwige leven wil krijgen, moet je je altijd aan de wetten van Mozes houden." 18 De man vroeg: "Aan welke wetten daarvan?" Jezus antwoordde: "Deze. Dood niemand. Wees trouw aan je vrouw. Steel niet. Vertel geen leugens over anderen. 19 Heb respect voor je vader en moeder en zorg voor hen. En houd net zoveel van je broeders als van jezelf."[b] 20 De jongeman zei tegen Hem: "Daar heb ik me mijn hele leven aan gehouden. Wat moet ik verder nog doen?" 21 Jezus zei: "Als je volmaakt wil zijn, ga dan naar huis, verkoop alles wat je hebt en geef het geld aan de arme mensen. Dan zul je een schat in de hemel hebben. Kom dan hier en volg Mij." 22 Toen de man dit hoorde, ging hij verdrietig naar huis. Want hij was erg rijk.
23 Jezus zei tegen zijn leerlingen: "Luister goed! Ik zeg jullie dat het voor rijke mensen moeilijk is om het Koninkrijk van God binnen te gaan. 24 Ja, het is gemakkelijker voor een kameel om door het oog van een naald te kruipen, dan voor een rijk mens om het Koninkrijk van God binnen te gaan." 25 Toen de leerlingen dat hoorden, werden ze er ongerust van. Ze vroegen: "Wie kan er dan worden gered?" 26 Jezus keek hen aan en zei: "Bij mensen is dat onmogelijk, maar bij God is alles mogelijk."
Wat is de beloning voor het volgen van Jezus?
27 Toen zei Petrus tegen Hem: "Heer, wíj hebben alles achtergelaten wat we hadden en zijn U gevolgd. Wat voor beloning zullen we daarvoor krijgen?" 28 Jezus zei tegen hen: "Luister goed! Ik zeg jullie: op een dag zal alles nieuw gemaakt worden. Ik zal dan op mijn hemelse troon zitten. Omdat jullie Mij zijn gevolgd, zullen jullie dan ook op twaalf tronen zitten. Jullie zullen rechters zijn over de twaalf stammen van Israël. 29 En als je je huis of broers of zussen of vader of moeder of vrouw of kinderen of akkers hebt achtergelaten om Mij te volgen, zul je er heel veel meer terugkrijgen. Ook zul je het eeuwige leven krijgen. 30 Maar veel mensen die nu het eerst zijn, zullen straks het laatst zijn. En veel mensen die nu het laatst zijn, zullen straks het eerst zijn."

Teaching About Divorce
19 Now when Jesus had finished these sayings, he went away from (A)Galilee and (B)entered (C)the region of Judea beyond the Jordan. 2 And (D)large crowds followed him, and he healed them there.
3 And Pharisees came up to him and (E)tested him by asking, (F)“Is it lawful to divorce one's wife for any cause?” 4 He answered, (G)“Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, 5 and said, (H)‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and (I)the two shall become one flesh’? 6 So they are no longer two but one flesh. (J)What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” 7 They said to him, (K)“Why then did Moses command one to give a certificate of divorce and to send her away?” 8 He said to them, “Because of your (L)hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. 9 (M)And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.”[a]
10 The disciples said to him, “If such is the case of a man with his wife, it is better not to marry.” 11 But he said to them, (N)“Not everyone can receive this saying, but only (O)those to (P)whom it is given. 12 For there are eunuchs who have been so from birth, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs (Q)for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Let the one who is able to receive this receive it.”
Let the Children Come to Me
13 (R)Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples (S)rebuked the people, 14 but Jesus said, (T)“Let the little children (U)come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” 15 And he laid his hands on them and went away.
The Rich Young Man
16 (V)And behold, a man came up to him, saying, “Teacher, what good deed must I do to (W)have (X)eternal life?” 17 And he said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. (Y)If you would enter life, keep the commandments.” 18 He said to him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, (Z)“You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, 19 Honor your father and mother, and, (AA)You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 20 The young man said to him, (AB)“All these I have kept. What do I still lack?” 21 Jesus said to him, “If you would be (AC)perfect, go, (AD)sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have (AE)treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” 22 (AF)When the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
23 And Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly, I say to you, (AG)only with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 (AH)Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter (AI)the kingdom of God.” 25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?” 26 But Jesus (AJ)looked at them and said, (AK)“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” 27 Then Peter said in reply, “See, (AL)we have left everything and followed you. What then will we have?” 28 Jesus said to them, “Truly, I say to you, in the new world,[b] (AM)when the Son of Man will sit on his glorious throne, you who have followed me (AN)will also sit on twelve thrones, (AO)judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 (AP)And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name's sake, will receive a hundredfold[c] and will (AQ)inherit eternal life. 30 But (AR)many who are (AS)first will be last, and the last first.

19 When Yeshua finished speaking, he left Galilee and traveled along the other side of the Jordan River to the territory of Judea. 2 Large crowds followed him, and he healed them there.
3 Some Pharisees came to test him. They asked, “Can a man divorce his wife for any reason?”
4 Yeshua answered, “Haven’t you read that the Creator made them male and female in the beginning 5 and that he said, ‘That’s why a man will leave his father and mother and will remain united with his wife, and the two will be one’? 6 So they are no longer two but one. Therefore, don’t let anyone separate what God has joined together.”
7 The Pharisees asked him, “Why, then, did Moses order a man to give his wife a written notice to divorce her?”
8 Yeshua answered them, “Moses allowed you to divorce your wives because you’re heartless. It was never this way in the beginning. 9 I can guarantee that whoever divorces his wife for any reason other than her unfaithfulness is committing adultery if he marries another woman.”
10 The disciples said to him, “If that is the only reason a man can use to divorce his wife, it’s better not to get married.”
11 He answered them, “Not everyone can do what you suggest. Only those who have that gift can. 12 For example, some men are celibate because they were born that way. Others are celibate because they were castrated. Still others have decided to be celibate because of the kingdom of heaven. If anyone can do what you’ve suggested, then he should do it.”
Jesus Blesses Children(B)
13 Then some people brought little children to Yeshua to have him bless them and pray for them. But the disciples told the people not to do that.
14 Yeshua said, “Don’t stop children from coming to me! Children like these are part of the kingdom of God.” 15 After Yeshua blessed them, he went away from there.
Eternal Life in the Kingdom(C)
16 Then a man came to Yeshua and said, “Teacher, what good deed should I do to gain eternal life?”
17 Yeshua said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you want to enter into life, obey the commandments.”
18 “Which commandments?” the man asked.
Yeshua said, “Never murder. Never commit adultery. Never steal. Never give false testimony. 19 Honor your father and mother. Love your neighbor as you love yourself.”
20 The young man replied, “I have obeyed all these commandments. What else do I need to do?”
21 Yeshua said to him, “If you want to be perfect, sell what you own. Give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then follow me!”
22 When the young man heard this, he went away sad because he owned a lot of property.
23 Yeshua said to his disciples, “I can guarantee this truth: It will be hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 I can guarantee again that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”
25 He amazed his disciples more than ever when they heard this. “Then who can be saved?” they asked.
26 Yeshua looked at them and said, “It is impossible for people to save themselves, but everything is possible for God.”
27 Then Peter replied to him, “Look, we’ve given up everything to follow you. What will we get out of it?”
28 Yeshua said to them, “I can guarantee this truth: When the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne in the world to come, you, my followers, will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone who gave up homes, brothers or sisters, father, mother, children, or fields because of my name will receive a hundred times more and will inherit eternal life. 30 However, many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.

19 Quando Gesú terminò questi discorsi, partí dalla Galilea e venne nel territorio della Giudea, al di là del Giordano.
2 Grandi folle lo seguirono, e là egli le guarí.
3 Allora gli si accostarono alcuni farisei per tentarlo, e gli dissero: «è lecito ad un uomo ripudiare la propria moglie per qualsiasi motivo?».
4 Ed egli, rispondendo, disse loro: «Non avete voi letto che chi li creò da principio, li creò maschio e femmina?
5 E disse: "Perciò l'uomo lascerà il padre e la madre e si unirà con la propria moglie, e i due diverranno una sola carne".
6 E cosí non sono piú due, ma una sola carne, quello dunque che Dio ha unito insieme, l'uomo non lo separi».
7 Essi gli dissero: «Perché allora Mosé ha ordinato di darle un atto di divorzio e mandarla via?».
8 Egli disse loro: «Per la durezza dei vostri cuori Mosé vi ha permesso di ripudiare le vostre mogli, ma da principio non era cosí.
9 Or io vi dico che chiunque manda via la propria moglie, eccetto in caso di fornicazione, e ne sposa un'altra, commette adulterio; e chi sposa colei che è stata mandata via, commette adulterio».
10 I suoi discepoli gli dissero: «Se questa è la condizione dell'uomo rispetto alla moglie, non conviene sposarsi».
11 Ma egli disse loro: «Non tutti sono capaci di accettare questo parlare, ma è per coloro ai quali è stato dato.
12 Poiché vi sono degli eunuchi, che sono nati cosí dal grembo della madre vi sono degli eunuchi che sono stati fatti eunuchi dagli uomini, e vi sono eunuchi che si sono fatti eunuchi da se stessi per il regno dei cieli. Chi è in grado di accettarlo, lo accetti».
13 Allora gli furono presentati dei piccoli fanciulli perché imponesse loro le mani e pregasse; i discepoli però li sgridavano.
14 Ma Gesú disse: «Lasciate i piccoli fanciulli venire a me, perché di tali è il regno dei cieli».
15 E, dopo aver imposto loro le mani, partí di là.
16 Ed ecco, un tale si avvicinò e gli disse: «Maestro buono, che devo fare di buono per avere la vita eterna?».
17 Ed egli disse: «Perché mi chiami buono? Nessuno è buono, se non uno solo, cioè: Dio. Ora, se tu vuoi entrare nella vita, osserva i comandamenti».
18 Egli gli disse: «Quali?». Gesú allora disse: «Non uccidere, non commettere adulterio, non rubare, non dire falsa testimonianza,
19 onora tuo padre e tua madre e ama il tuo prossimo come te stesso».
20 Quel giovane gli disse: «Tutte queste cose le ho osservate fin dalla mia giovinezza, che mi manca ancora?».
21 Gesú gli disse: «Se vuoi essere perfetto, va vendi ciò che hai, dallo ai poveri e tu avrai un tesoro nel cielo; poi vieni e seguimi».
22 Ma il giovane, udito questo parlare, se ne andò rattristato, perché aveva molte ricchezze.
23 Gesú allora disse ai suoi discepoli: «In verità vi dico che un ricco difficilmente entrerà nel regno dei cieli.
24 E ve lo ripeto: è piú facile che un cammello passi per la cruna di un ago, che un ricco entri nel regno di Dio».
25 All'udire ciò, i suoi discepoli, furono grandemente sbigottiti e dissero: «Chi dunque può essere salvato?».
26 E Gesú fissando lo sguardo su di loro, disse: «Per gli uomini questo è impossibile, ma per Dio ogni cosa è possibile».
27 Allora Pietro gli rispose, dicendo: «Ecco, noi abbiamo abbandonato ogni cosa e ti abbiamo seguito; che ne avremo dunque?».
28 Gesú disse loro: «In verità vi dico che nella nuova creazione, quando il Figlio dell'uomo sederà sul trono della sua gloria, anche voi che mi avete seguito sederete su dodici troni, per giudicare le dodici tribú d'Israele,
29 E chiunque ha lasciato casa, fratelli, sorelle, padre, madre, moglie, figli o campi per amore del mio nome, ne riceverà il centuplo ed erediterà la vita eterna.

19 Cuando Jesús terminó estas palabras(A), partió de Galilea y se (B)fue a la región de Judea, al otro lado del Jordán; 2 y grandes multitudes siguieron a Jesús, y los sanó allí(C).
Enseñanza de Jesús sobre el divorcio
3 Y se acercaron a Él algunos fariseos para ponerlo a prueba, diciendo: «¿Le está permitido a un hombre divorciarse de[a] su mujer(D) por cualquier motivo?». 4 Jesús les respondió: «¿No han leído que Aquel que los creó, desde el principio los hizo varón y hembra(E), 5 y dijo: “Por esta razón el hombre dejará a su padre y a su madre y se unirá a su mujer(F), y los dos serán una sola carne(G)”? 6 Así que ya no son dos, sino una sola carne. Por tanto, lo que Dios ha unido, ningún hombre lo separe».
7 Ellos le dijeron*: «Entonces, ¿por qué mandó Moisés darle carta de divorcio y repudiarla(H)?». 8 Él les contestó*: «Por la dureza de su corazón Moisés les permitió a ustedes divorciarse de[b]sus mujeres; pero no ha sido así desde el principio. 9 Pero Yo les digo que cualquiera que se divorcie de[c]su mujer(I), salvo por infidelidad, y se case con otra, comete[d]adulterio[e]». 10 Los discípulos le dijeron*: «Si así es la relación del hombre con su mujer, no conviene casarse». 11 Jesús les dijo: «No todos pueden aceptar este precepto(J), sino solo aquellos a quienes les ha sido dado(K). 12 Porque hay eunucos que nacieron así desde el seno de su madre, y hay eunucos que fueron hechos eunucos por los hombres, y también hay eunucos que a sí mismos se hicieron eunucos por causa del reino de los cielos. El que pueda aceptar esto, que lo acepte».
Jesús bendice a los niños
13 (L)Entonces trajeron algunos niños a Jesús para que pusiera las manos sobre ellos y orara; y los discípulos los reprendieron. 14 Pero Jesús dijo: «Dejen a los niños(M), y no les impidan que vengan a Mí, porque de los que son como estos[f]es el reino de los cielos(N)». 15 Y después de poner Él las manos sobre ellos, se fue de allí.
El joven rico
16 (O)Y un hombre se acercó a Jesús y le dijo: «Maestro, ¿qué cosa buena haré para obtener la vida eterna(P)?». 17 Jesús le respondió: «¿Por qué me preguntas acerca de lo que es bueno? Solo Uno es bueno; pero si deseas entrar en la vida(Q), guarda los mandamientos». 18 «¿Cuáles?», preguntó* el hombre. Y Jesús respondió: «No matarás; no cometerás adulterio; no hurtarás; no darás falso testimonio(R); 19 honra a tu padre y a tu madre(S); y amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo(T)».
20 El joven dijo*: «Todo esto lo he guardado; ¿qué me falta todavía?». 21 Jesús le respondió: «Si quieres ser perfecto, ve y vende lo que posees(U)y da a los pobres, y tendrás tesoro en los cielos(V); y ven, sé Mi discípulo». 22 Pero al oír el joven estas palabras[g], se fue triste, porque era dueño de muchos bienes.
Peligro de las riquezas
23 Jesús dijo entonces a Sus discípulos: «En verdad les digo que es difícil que un rico entre en el reino de los cielos(W). 24 Otra vez les digo que es más fácil para un camello pasar por el ojo de una aguja, que para un rico entrar en el reino de Dios(X)». 25 Al oír esto, los discípulos estaban llenos de asombro, y decían: «Entonces, ¿quién podrá salvarse?». 26 Jesús, mirándolos, les dijo: «Para los hombres eso es imposible, pero para Dios todo es posible(Y)».
27 Entonces Pedro le respondió: «Mira, nosotros lo hemos dejado todo y te hemos seguido; ¿qué, pues, recibiremos[h]?». 28 Jesús les dijo: «En verdad les digo que ustedes que me han seguido, en la regeneración, cuando el Hijo del Hombre(Z)se siente en el trono de Su gloria, ustedes se sentarán también sobre doce tronos(AA)para juzgar a las doce tribus de Israel. 29 Y todo el que haya dejado casas, o hermanos, o hermanas, o padre, o madre[i], o hijos o tierras por Mi nombre(AB), recibirá cien[j]veces más, y heredará la vida eterna. 30 Pero muchos primeros serán últimos, y los últimos, primeros(AC).
