Die Verklärung Jesu
17 Und nach sechs Tagen nahm Jesus den Petrus, den Jakobus und dessen Bruder Johannes mit sich und führte sie beiseite auf einen hohen Berg.
2 Und er wurde vor ihnen verklärt[a], und sein Angesicht leuchtete wie die Sonne, und seine Kleider wurden weiß wie das Licht.
3 Und siehe, es erschienen ihnen Mose und Elia, die redeten mit ihm.
4 Da begann Petrus und sprach zu Jesus: Herr, es ist gut, dass wir hier sind! Wenn du willst, so lass uns hier drei Hütten bauen, dir eine und Mose eine und Elia eine.
5 Als er noch redete, siehe, da überschattete sie eine lichte Wolke, und siehe, eine Stimme aus der Wolke sprach: Dies ist mein geliebter Sohn, an dem ich Wohlgefallen habe; auf ihn sollt ihr hören!
6 Als die Jünger das hörten, fielen sie auf ihr Angesicht und fürchteten sich sehr.
7 Und Jesus trat herzu, rührte sie an und sprach: Steht auf und fürchtet euch nicht!
8 Als sie aber ihre Augen erhoben, sahen sie niemand als Jesus allein.
9 Und als sie den Berg hinabgingen, gebot ihnen Jesus und sprach: Sagt niemand von dem Gesicht, bis der Sohn des Menschen aus den Toten auferstanden ist!
10 Und seine Jünger fragten ihn und sprachen: Warum sagen denn die Schriftgelehrten, dass zuvor Elia kommen müsse?
11 Jesus aber antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Elia kommt freilich zuvor und wird alles wiederherstellen[b].
12 Ich sage euch aber, dass Elia schon gekommen ist; und sie haben ihn nicht anerkannt, sondern mit ihm gemacht, was sie wollten. Ebenso wird auch der Sohn des Menschen von ihnen leiden müssen.
13 Da verstanden die Jünger, dass er zu ihnen von Johannes dem Täufer redete.
Die Heilung eines mondsüchtigen Knaben
14 Und als sie zur Volksmenge kamen, trat ein Mensch zu ihm, fiel vor ihm auf die Knie
15 und sprach: Herr, erbarme dich über meinen Sohn, denn er ist mondsüchtig und leidet schwer; er fällt nämlich oft ins Feuer und oft ins Wasser!
16 Und ich habe ihn zu deinen Jüngern gebracht, aber sie konnten ihn nicht heilen.
17 Da antwortete Jesus und sprach: O du ungläubiges und verkehrtes Geschlecht! Wie lange soll ich bei euch sein? Wie lange soll ich euch ertragen? Bringt ihn her zu mir!
18 Und Jesus befahl dem Dämon, und er fuhr von ihm aus, und der Knabe war gesund von jener Stunde an.
19 Da traten die Jünger allein zu Jesus und sprachen: Warum konnten wir ihn nicht austreiben?
20 Jesus aber sprach zu ihnen: Um eures Unglaubens willen! Denn wahrlich, ich sage euch: Wenn ihr Glauben hättet wie ein Senfkorn, so würdet ihr zu diesem Berg sprechen: Hebe dich weg von hier dorthin!, und er würde sich hinwegheben; und nichts würde euch unmöglich sein.
21 Aber diese Art fährt nicht aus außer durch Gebet und Fasten.
Die zweite Ankündigung von Jesu Tod und Auferstehung
22 Als sie nun ihren Weg durch Galiläa nahmen, sprach Jesus zu ihnen: Der Sohn des Menschen wird in die Hände der Menschen ausgeliefert werden,
23 und sie werden ihn töten, und am dritten Tag wird er auferweckt werden. Und sie wurden sehr betrübt.
Die Zahlung der Tempelsteuer
24 Als sie aber nach Kapernaum kamen, traten die Einnehmer der Tempelsteuer[c] zu Petrus und sprachen: Zahlt euer Meister nicht auch die zwei Drachmen?
25 Er antwortete: Doch! Und als er ins Haus trat, kam ihm Jesus zuvor und sprach: Was meinst du, Simon, von wem nehmen die Könige der Erde den Zoll oder die Steuer, von ihren Söhnen oder von den Fremden?
26 Petrus sagte zu ihm: Von den Fremden. Da sprach Jesus zu ihm: So sind also die Söhne frei!
27 Damit wir ihnen aber keinen Anstoß geben, geh hin an den See, wirf die Angel aus und nimm den ersten Fisch, den du herausziehst, und wenn du sein Maul öffnest, wirst du einen Stater[d] finden; den nimm und gib ihn für mich und dich!

The Transfiguration(A)(B)
17 After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John(C) the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2 There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. 3 Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.
4 Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.”
5 While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.(D) Listen to him!”(E)
6 When the disciples heard this, they fell facedown to the ground, terrified. 7 But Jesus came and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Don’t be afraid.”(F) 8 When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus.
9 As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, “Don’t tell anyone(G) what you have seen, until the Son of Man(H) has been raised from the dead.”(I)
10 The disciples asked him, “Why then do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?”
11 Jesus replied, “To be sure, Elijah comes and will restore all things.(J) 12 But I tell you, Elijah has already come,(K) and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished.(L) In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer(M) at their hands.” 13 Then the disciples understood that he was talking to them about John the Baptist.(N)
Jesus Heals a Demon-Possessed Boy(O)
14 When they came to the crowd, a man approached Jesus and knelt before him. 15 “Lord, have mercy on my son,” he said. “He has seizures(P) and is suffering greatly. He often falls into the fire or into the water. 16 I brought him to your disciples, but they could not heal him.”
17 “You unbelieving and perverse generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.” 18 Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the boy, and he was healed at that moment.
19 Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”
20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith(Q) as small as a mustard seed,(R) you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move.(S) Nothing will be impossible for you.” [21] [a]
Jesus Predicts His Death a Second Time
22 When they came together in Galilee, he said to them, “The Son of Man(T) is going to be delivered into the hands of men. 23 They will kill him,(U) and on the third day(V) he will be raised to life.”(W) And the disciples were filled with grief.
The Temple Tax
24 After Jesus and his disciples arrived in Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma temple tax(X) came to Peter and asked, “Doesn’t your teacher pay the temple tax?”
25 “Yes, he does,” he replied.
When Peter came into the house, Jesus was the first to speak. “What do you think, Simon?” he asked. “From whom do the kings of the earth collect duty and taxes(Y)—from their own children or from others?”
26 “From others,” Peter answered.
“Then the children are exempt,” Jesus said to him. 27 “But so that we may not cause offense,(Z) go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four-drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours.”

9 (G)When they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, “(H)Tell the vision to no one until (I)the Son of Man has (J)risen from the dead.” 10 And His disciples asked Him, “Why then do the scribes say that (K)Elijah must come first?” 11 And He answered and said, “Elijah is coming and will restore all things; 12 but I say to you that Elijah already came, and they did not recognize him, but did [d]to him whatever they wanted. So also (L)the Son of Man is going to suffer [e]at their hands.” 13 Then the disciples understood that He had spoken to them about John the Baptist.
The Demon-possessed Boy
14 (M)When they came to the crowd, a man came up to [f]Jesus, falling on his knees before Him and saying, 15 “[g]Lord, have mercy on my son, because he (N)has seizures and suffers terribly; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. 16 And I brought him to Your disciples, and they could not cure him.” 17 And Jesus answered and said, “You unbelieving and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him here to Me.” 18 And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon came out of him, and the boy was healed [h]at once.
19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” 20 And He *said to them, “Because of your meager faith; for truly I say to you, (O)if you have faith [i]the size of (P)a mustard seed, you will say to (Q)this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and (R)nothing will be impossible for you.[j]”
22 (S)And while they were gathering together in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be [k]handed over to men; 23 and (T)they will kill Him, and He will be raised on the third day.” And they were deeply grieved.
The Temple Tax
24 Now when they came to Capernaum, those who collected (U)the [l]two-drachma tax came to Peter and said, “Does your teacher not pay (V)the [m]two-drachma tax?” 25 He *said, “Yes.” And when he came into the house, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth collect (W)customs or [n](X)poll-tax, from their sons or from strangers?” 26 When Peter said, “From strangers,” Jesus said to him, “Then the sons are [o]exempt. 27 However, so that we do not (Y)offend them, go to the sea and throw in a hook, and take the first fish that comes up; and when you open its mouth, you will find a [p]stater. Take that and give it to them for you and Me.”

Likewise (M)the Son of Man is also about to suffer at their hands.” 13 (N)Then the disciples understood that He spoke to them of John the Baptist.
A Boy Is Healed(O)
14 (P)And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to Him, kneeling down to Him and saying, 15 “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is [c]an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. 16 So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.”
17 Then Jesus answered and said, “O [d]faithless and (Q)perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.” 18 And Jesus (R)rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour.
19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?”
20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your [e]unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, (S)if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. 21 [f]However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”
Jesus Again Predicts His Death and Resurrection(T)
22 (U)Now while they were [g]staying in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men, 23 and they will kill Him, and the third day He will be raised up.” And they were exceedingly (V)sorrowful.
Peter and His Master Pay Their Taxes
24 (W)When they had come to [h]Capernaum, those who received the [i]temple tax came to Peter and said, “Does your Teacher not pay the temple tax?”
25 He said, “Yes.”
And when he had come into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth take customs or taxes, from their sons or from (X)strangers?”
26 Peter said to Him, “From strangers.”
Jesus said to him, “Then the sons are free. 27 Nevertheless, lest we offend them, go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And when you have opened its mouth, you will find a [j]piece of money; take that and give it to them for Me and you.”
