Om att döma andra
(Luk 6:37-38; 6:41-42)
7 Döm inte, så blir ni själva inte dömda, 2 för ni kommer att dömas så som ni dömer andra. Med det mått ni mäter ska det mätas upp åt er. 3 Varför ser du flisan i din medmänniskas öga, när du inte märker bjälken i ditt eget? 4 Varför säger du till henne: ’Kom så ska jag ta bort flisan ur ditt öga’, när du samtidigt har en bjälke i ditt eget? 5 Du hycklare, ta först bort bjälken ur ditt eget öga! Sedan kan du se klart och ta bort flisan ur din medmänniskas öga.
6 Ge inte det som är heligt åt hundarna; de kommer att vända sig om och slita er i stycken. Och kasta inte pärlor åt svinen, de kommer att trampa på dem.
Be, så ska ni få
(Luk 11:9-13; 6:31)
7 Be, så ska ni få. Sök, så ska ni finna. Knacka på och dörren ska öppnas. 8 För den som ber, han får, och den som söker, han finner. Och för var och en som knackar på ska dörren öppnas.
9 Du som är förälder, inte ger du väl ditt barn en sten när det ber om bröd, 10 eller en orm när det ber om en fisk? 11 Om nu ni, som är onda, har förstånd att ge goda gåvor till era barn, skulle då inte er Fader i himlen ge goda gåvor till dem som ber honom?
Den gyllene regeln
12 Gör mot andra så som ni vill att de ska göra mot er. Detta är vad lagen och profeterna säger.
Den trånga porten
(Luk 13:24)
13 Gå in genom den trånga porten. Vägen till fördärvet är bred, och porten dit in är vid, och många är de som väljer den. 14 Men porten till livet är trång, och vägen dit är smal. Det är få som finner den.
Trädet känns igen på frukten
(Luk 6:43-44)
15 Akta er för falska profeter. De kommer till er förklädda till får men är i verkligheten glupska vargar. 16 Ni kan känna igen dem på deras frukt, så som man ju inte plockar vindruvor på törnbuskar eller fikon på tistlar. 17 Ett bra träd bär bra frukt och ett dåligt träd bär dålig frukt. 18 Ett bra träd kan inte bära dålig frukt, och ett dåligt träd kan inte bära bra frukt. 19 Men varje träd som inte bär bra frukt huggs ner och bränns upp. 20 Ni kan känna igen dem på deras frukt.
Sanna lärjungar
21 Inte alla som säger ’Herre, Herre’ till mig kommer in i himmelriket, utan bara de som gör min himmelske Faders vilja.
22 På den dagen ska många säga till mig: ’Herre, Herre! Vi har ju profeterat i ditt namn och drivit ut onda andar i ditt namn och gjort många under i ditt namn.’ 23 Men då ska jag säga dem sanningen: ’Jag har aldrig känt er! Försvinn härifrån, ni laglösa!’
Om att bygga på stadig grund
(Luk 6:47-49)
24 Den som hör min undervisning och handlar efter den är klok. Han liknar en man som byggde sitt hus på berggrunden. 25 Det blev skyfall och översvämning, och stormvindarna blåste med våldsam kraft mot huset, men det rasade inte eftersom det var byggt på berggrund.
26 Men den som hör min undervisning och inte handlar efter den är en dåre. Han liknar en man som byggde sitt hus direkt på sanden. 27 När sedan regnet kom och det blev översvämning, och stormvindarna blåste mot huset, föll det ihop med ett stort brak.”
28 När Jesus hade avslutat detta tal var människorna mycket häpna över hans undervisning, 29 för han talade med makt, och inte som deras skriftlärda.

Flisan och bjälken
7 Döm inte, så blir ni inte dömda. 2 Ty med den dom ni dömer med, skall ni bli dömda, och med det mått ni mäter med, skall det mätas upp åt er. 3 Varför ser du flisan i din broders öga men märker inte bjälken i ditt eget öga? 4 Eller hur kan du säga till din broder: Låt mig ta bort flisan ur ditt öga, du som har en bjälke i ditt eget öga? 5 Du hycklare, ta först bort bjälken ur ditt eget öga! Då kommer du att se så klart att du kan ta ut flisan ur din broders öga.
Det heliga och hundarna
6 Ge inte det heliga åt hundarna och kasta inte era pärlor för svinen. De trampar ner dem och vänder sig om och sliter sönder er.
Bed och ni skall få
7 Bed och ni skall få, sök och ni skall finna, bulta och dörren skall öppnas för er. 8 Ty var och en som ber, han får, och den som söker, han finner, och för den som bultar skall dörren öppnas. 9 Vem bland er ger sin son en sten, när han ber om bröd, 10 eller en orm, när han ber om en fisk? 11 Om ni som är onda förstår att ge era barn goda gåvor, hur mycket mer skall då inte er Fader i himlen ge det som är gott åt dem som ber honom.
Den gyllene regeln
12 Därför, allt vad ni vill att människorna skall göra er, det skall ni också göra dem. Detta är lagen och profeterna.
De två vägarna
13 Gå in genom den trånga porten. Ty den port är vid, och den väg är bred som leder till fördärvet, och det är många som går fram på den. 14 Och den port är trång, och den väg är smal som leder till livet, och det är få som finner den.
15 Akta er för de falska profeterna, som kommer till er klädda som får men i sitt inre är rovlystna vargar. 16 På deras frukt skall ni känna igen dem. Inte plockar man väl vindruvor från törnbuskar eller fikon från tistlar? 17 Så bär varje gott träd god frukt, men ett dåligt träd bär dålig frukt. 18 Ett gott träd kan inte bära dålig frukt, inte heller kan ett dåligt träd bära god frukt. 19 Ett träd som inte bär god frukt blir nerhugget och kastat i elden. 20 Alltså skall ni känna igen dem på deras frukt. 21 Inte skall var och en som säger 'Herre, Herre' till mig komma in i himmelriket, utan den som gör min himmelske Faders vilja. 22 Många skall säga till mig på den dagen: Herre, Herre, har vi inte profeterat med hjälp av ditt namn[a] och med hjälp av ditt namn drivit ut onda andar och med hjälp av ditt namn gjort många kraftgärningar? 23 Men då skall jag säga dem sanningen: Jag har aldrig känt er. Gå bort ifrån mig, ni laglösa!
Liknelsen om de två husbyggarna
24 Den som därför hör dessa mina ord och handlar efter dem, han liknar en förståndig man som byggde sitt hus på klippan. 25 Regnet öste ner, störtfloden kom och vindarna blåste och kastade sig mot det huset. Men det föll inte, eftersom det var grundat på klippan. 26 Men den som hör dessa mina ord och inte handlar efter dem, han liknar en dåre som byggde sitt hus på sanden. 27 Regnet öste ner, störtfloden kom och vindarna blåste och slog mot det huset, och det föll samman, och dess fall var stort."
28 När Jesus hade avslutat detta tal, var människorna mycket förvånade över hans undervisning, 29 ty han undervisade dem med auktoritet och inte som deras skriftlärda.

7 “Don’t criticize, and then you won’t be criticized. 2 For others will treat you as you treat them. 3 And why worry about a speck in the eye of a brother when you have a board in your own? 4 Should you say, ‘Friend, let me help you get that speck out of your eye,’ when you can’t even see because of the board in your own? 5 Hypocrite! First get rid of the board. Then you can see to help your brother.
6 “Don’t give holy things to depraved men. Don’t give pearls to swine! They will trample the pearls and turn and attack you.
7 “Ask, and you will be given what you ask for. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened. 8 For everyone who asks, receives. Anyone who seeks, finds. If only you will knock, the door will open. 9 If a child asks his father for a loaf of bread, will he be given a stone instead? 10 If he asks for fish, will he be given a poisonous snake? Of course not! 11 And if you hard-hearted, sinful men know how to give good gifts to your children, won’t your Father in heaven even more certainly give good gifts to those who ask him for them?
12 “Do for others what you want them to do for you. This is the teaching of the laws of Moses in a nutshell.[a]
13 “Heaven can be entered only through the narrow gate! The highway to hell[b] is broad, and its gate is wide enough for all the multitudes who choose its easy way. 14 But the Gateway to Life is small, and the road is narrow, and only a few ever find it.
15 “Beware of false teachers who come disguised as harmless sheep, but are wolves and will tear you apart. 16 You can detect them by the way they act, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit. You need never confuse grapevines with thorn bushes or figs with thistles. 17 Different kinds of fruit trees can quickly be identified by examining their fruit. 18 A variety that produces delicious fruit never produces an inedible kind. And a tree producing an inedible kind can’t produce what is good. 19 So the trees having the inedible fruit are chopped down and thrown on the fire. 20 Yes, the way to identify a tree or a person[c] is by the kind of fruit produced.
21 “Not all who sound religious are really godly people. They may refer to me as ‘Lord,’ but still won’t get to heaven. For the decisive question is whether they obey my Father in heaven. 22 At the Judgment[d] many will tell me, ‘Lord, Lord, we told others about you and used your name to cast out demons and to do many other great miracles.’ 23 But I will reply, ‘You have never been mine.[e] Go away, for your deeds are evil.’
24 “All who listen to my instructions and follow them are wise, like a man who builds his house on solid rock. 25 Though the rain comes in torrents, and the floods rise and the storm winds beat against his house, it won’t collapse, for it is built on rock.
26 “But those who hear my instructions and ignore them are foolish, like a man who builds his house on sand. 27 For when the rains and floods come, and storm winds beat against his house, it will fall with a mighty crash.” 28 The crowds were amazed at Jesus’ sermons, 29 for he taught as one who had great authority, and not as their Jewish leaders.[f]

Judging Others(A)
7 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged.(B) 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.(C)
3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
6 “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.
Ask, Seek, Knock(D)
7 “Ask and it will be given to you;(E) seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds;(F) and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts(G) to those who ask him! 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you,(H) for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.(I)
The Narrow and Wide Gates
13 “Enter through the narrow gate.(J) For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
True and False Prophets
15 “Watch out for false prophets.(K) They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.(L) 16 By their fruit you will recognize them.(M) Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?(N) 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.(O) 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.(P) 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.
True and False Disciples
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’(Q) will enter the kingdom of heaven,(R) but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.(S) 22 Many will say to me on that day,(T) ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’(U) 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’(V)
The Wise and Foolish Builders(W)
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice(X) is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
28 When Jesus had finished saying these things,(Y) the crowds were amazed at his teaching,(Z) 29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.
