6 Hoppa ner, sa han, och bevisa att du är Guds Son! Skriften säger ju: Gud ska sända sina änglar för att skydda dig. De kommer att hindra dig från att krossas mot stenarna här nedanför.
7 Men Jesus svarade skarpt: Skriften säger också att man inte ska utmana Herren Gud med dåraktiga handlingar.

5 Then the devil took Him up (A)into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, 6 and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written:
(B)‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’
and,
(C)‘In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ ”
7 Jesus said to him, “It is written again, (D)‘You shall not [a]tempt the Lord your God.’ ”

“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
