³⁴Jesus sa till honom: Sanningen är den att du denna natt ska förneka mig tre gånger innan ens tuppen hunnit gala i morgon bitti.

³⁵Om jag till och med måste dö så gör jag det inte! försäkrade Petrus. Och alla de andra lärjungarna sa samma sak.

³⁶Sedan tog Jesus dem med sig till det ställe som kallas Getsemane. Där bad han dem sitta ner och vänta medan han gick lite längre bort för att be.

³⁴“Truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.”^(A)

³⁵But Peter declared, “Even if I have to die with you,^(B) I will never disown you.” And all the other disciples said the same.

³⁶Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”
