Guds ord eller de äldstes stadgar
15 Sedan kom några fariseer och skriftlärda från Jerusalem fram till Jesus och frågade: 2 "Varför bryter dina lärjungar mot de äldstes stadgar?[a] De tvättar inte händerna innan de äter." 3 Han svarade dem: "Varför bryter ni mot Guds bud för era stadgars skull? 4 Gud har sagt: Hedra din far och din mor och: Den som förbannar sin far eller mor skall straffas med döden. [b] 5 Men ni påstår: Om någon säger till sin far eller mor: Vad du kunde ha fått av mig, det ger jag som offergåva,[c] 6 då skall han inte hedra sin far eller mor. Ni upphäver Guds ord för era stadgars skull. 7 Ni hycklare, rätt profeterade Jesaja om er: 8 Detta folk ärar mig med sina läppar, men deras hjärtan är långt ifrån mig.[d] 9 Förgäves dyrkar de mig, eftersom de läror de förkunnar är människors bud."
10 Sedan kallade han till sig folket och sade till dem: "Lyssna och förstå! 11 Det som kommer in i munnen gör inte människan oren. Men det som går ut ur munnen, det orenar henne." 12 Lärjungarna gick då fram till honom och sade: "Vet du att fariseerna tog illa vid sig, när de hörde detta?" 13 Jesus svarade: "Varje planta, som min himmelske Fader inte har planterat, skall ryckas upp med roten. 14 Låt dem vara. De är blinda ledare för blinda. Och om en blind leder en blind, faller båda i gropen."
15 Petrus sade då till honom: "Förklara denna liknelse för oss." 16 Jesus sade: "Är ni också fortfarande lika oförståndiga? 17 Förstår ni inte att allt som kommer in i munnen går ner i magen och töms ut på avträdet? 18 Men det som går ut ur munnen kommer från hjärtat, och det gör människan oren. 19 Ty från hjärtat kommer onda tankar, mord, äktenskapsbrott, otukt, stöld, falskt vittnesbörd och hädelser. 20 Sådant orenar människan. Men att äta utan att tvätta händerna gör inte människan oren."
En kanaaneisk kvinnas tro
21 Jesus lämnade platsen och drog sig undan till området kring Tyrus och Sidon. 22 Då kom en kanaaneisk kvinna[e] från dessa trakter och ropade: "Herre, Davids Son, förbarma dig över mig! Min dotter är svårt besatt." 23 Men han svarade henne inte med ett ord. Hans lärjungar gick då fram och bad honom: "Skicka i väg henne! Hon följer ju efter oss och ropar." 24 Han svarade: "Jag är sänd endast till de förlorade fåren av Israels hus." 25 Men hon kom och föll ner för honom och sade: "Herre, hjälp mig!" 26 Han svarade: "Det är inte rätt att ta brödet från barnen och kasta det åt hundarna." 27 Hon sade: "Jo, Herre, också hundarna äter smulorna som faller från deras herrars bord." 28 Då svarade Jesus henne: "Kvinna, din tro är stor. Det skall bli som du vill." Och från det ögonblicket var hennes dotter botad.
Jesus botar sjuka
29 Jesus begav sig därifrån och gick längs Galileiska sjön, och sedan gick han upp på berget och satte sig där. 30 Mycket folk kom till honom, och de hade med sig lama, blinda, krymplingar, stumma och många andra, som de lade ner vid hans fötter, och han botade dem. 31 Och folket häpnade, när de såg stumma tala, krymplingar bli friska, lama gå och blinda se. Och de prisade Israels Gud.
Jesus mättar fyra tusen män
32 Jesus kallade till sig sina lärjungar och sade: "Det gör mig ont om dessa människor. De har redan varit hos mig i tre dagar och har inget att äta. Jag vill inte låta dem ge sig i väg hungriga. De kan duka under på vägen." 33 Lärjungarna frågade honom: "Var skall vi här i ödemarken få så mycket bröd, att vi kan mätta så många?" 34 Jesus sade till dem: "Hur många bröd har ni?" De svarade: "Sju bröd och några små fiskar." 35 Då befallde han folket att slå sig ner på marken. 36 Och han tog de sju bröden och fiskarna, tackade Gud, bröt bröden och gav dem åt lärjungarna, och lärjungarna gav åt folket. 37 Alla åt och blev mätta, och man plockade upp de överblivna styckena, sju korgar fulla. 38 De som hade ätit var fyra tusen män, förutom kvinnor och barn. 39 Och sedan han sänt i väg folket, steg han i båten och kom över till Magadans område.

- Matteus 15:2 de äldstes stadgar Med detta uttryck menas den tolkning och tillämpning av Mose lag som utarbetats av de skriftlärda. Denna tradition fördes under åberopande av 5 Mos 4:14 tillbaka till Mose och betraktades lika bindande som Guds lag i Skriften. Så kom nya bud att läggas till GT:s lagar. För Jesus är de bud som ingår i de äldstes stadgar människors bud.

- Matteus 15:5 offergåva En sådan gåva till templet (hebr. "korban") betraktades som invigd åt Gud. Genom att avge ett sådant löfte hade man enligt de äldstes stadgar löst sig från förpliktelsen att hjälpa sina föräldrar.

3 พระเยซูตอบว่า “แล้วทำไมพวกคุณถึงขัดคำสั่งพระเจ้าเพราะเห็นแก่ประเพณีของพวกคุณล่ะ 4 พระเจ้าบอกว่า ‘ให้เคารพนับถือพ่อและแม่’(A) และ ‘ใครสาปแช่งพ่อแม่จะมีโทษถึงตาย’(B) 5 แต่พวกคุณกลับสอนว่าไม่ผิดที่จะบอกพ่อแม่ว่า ‘สิ่งที่ลูกจะเอามาช่วยพ่อแม่ได้นั้น ลูกได้ยกให้กับพระเจ้าไปหมดแล้ว’ 6 ด้วยวิธีนี้ เขาก็เลยไม่ต้องเคารพพ่อของเขา เพราะเห็นแก่ประเพณีของคุณ คุณยกเลิกพระคำของพระเจ้า 7 ไอ้พวกหน้าซื่อใจคด อิสยาห์ได้พูดแทนพระเจ้าเกี่ยวกับพวกคุณไว้ถูกต้องเลยที่ว่า
8 ‘คนพวกนี้นับถือเราแต่ปากเท่านั้น

12 พวกศิษย์เข้ามาบอกพระเยซูว่า “อาจารย์รู้หรือเปล่า ที่อาจารย์พูดไปนั้น ทำให้พวกฟาริสีโกรธแค้นมาก”
13 พระเยซูตอบว่า “ต้นไม้ทุกต้นที่พระบิดาของเราบนสวรรค์ไม่ได้ปลูก ก็จะถูกถอนรากถอนโคนจนหมด 14 ไม่ต้องไปสนใจหรอก พวกเขาเป็นคนนำทางตาบอด ถ้าคนตาบอดนำทางคนตาบอด ทั้งสองคนก็จะตกลงไปในคู”
15 เปโตรบอกพระเยซูว่า “ช่วยอธิบายเรื่องเปรียบเทียบที่เพิ่งพูดไปนั้นให้ฟังหน่อยครับ”
16 พระเยซูพูดว่า “อะไรกัน ยังไม่เข้าใจอีกหรือ 17 ไม่เห็นหรือว่า ทุกอย่างที่คนกินเข้าไปในปากจะตกลงไปในท้อง แล้วถ่ายออกมา 18 แต่สิ่งที่พูดออกมาจากปากนั้น มันมาจากใจ และสิ่งนี้เองที่ทำให้คนสกปรกในสายตาพระเจ้า 19 เพราะสิ่งที่ออกมาจากใจ คือความคิดชั่วร้าย การเข่นฆ่ากัน การมีชู้ ความผิดบาปทางเพศอื่นๆ การลักขโมย การโกหก การใส่ร้ายป้ายสีกัน 20 สิ่งเหล่านี้แหละเป็นสิ่งที่ทำให้คนสกปรกในสายตาพระเจ้า แต่การที่ไม่ได้ล้างมือก่อนกินอาหาร ไม่ทำให้คนสกปรกในสายตาพระเจ้าหรอก”
พระเยซูช่วยผู้หญิงที่ไม่ใช่ชาวยิว

21 พระเยซูออกจากที่นั่น และเข้าไปยังเขตแดนเมืองไทระ และเมืองไซดอน 22 หญิงชาวคานาอันคนหนึ่งที่อยู่แถวนั้น ได้เข้ามาร้องบอกพระองค์ว่า “องค์เจ้าชีวิต บุตรของดาวิด[a] สงสารฉันด้วยเถอะ ลูกสาวของฉันถูกผีสิง เธอทนทุกข์ทรมานมาก”
23 พระเยซูไม่ได้ตอบเธอเลยสักคำ พวกศิษย์เข้ามายุพระองค์ว่า “ไล่เธอไปเถอะครับ น่ารำคาญ ร้องตะโกนตามตื๊ออยู่ได้”
24 พระเยซูตอบผู้หญิงคนนั้นว่า “พระเจ้าส่งเรามาช่วยเฉพาะคนอิสราเอลที่เป็นเหมือนแกะที่หลงทางของพระองค์”
25 เธอจึงเข้ามาคุกเข่าลงต่อหน้าพระเยซู และพูดว่า “องค์เจ้าชีวิต ช่วยฉันด้วยเถิด”
26 พระเยซูจึงตอบว่า “มันไม่ถูกต้องหรอกนะ ที่จะเอาอาหารของลูกๆไปโยนให้หมากิน”
27 หญิงคนนั้นตอบว่า “ใช่ค่ะ แต่หมาก็ยังได้กินเศษอาหารที่หล่นจากโต๊ะของนายมันนะคะ”
28 พระเยซูตอบว่า “เธอนี่มีความเชื่อมากจริงๆ เธอขออะไรก็ให้เป็นไปตามนั้น” แล้วลูกสาวของนางก็หายเป็นปกติทันที
พระเยซูรักษาคนป่วยจำนวนมาก
29 พระเยซูออกจากที่นั่น เดินไปตามชายฝั่งทะเลสาบกาลิลีและขึ้นไปบนภูเขา แล้วนั่งพักอยู่บนนั้น 30 มีฝูงชนจำนวนมากมาหาพระเยซู พวกเขาพาคนง่อย คนตาบอด คนพิการ คนใบ้ และคนที่เป็นโรคอื่นๆอีกมากมายมาด้วย และเอามาวางนอนอยู่ที่เท้าของพระองค์ แล้วพระองค์ได้รักษาทุกคนจนหายหมด 31 ผู้คนต่างก็พากันประหลาดใจ เมื่อเห็นคนใบ้พูดได้ คนพิการก็หาย คนขาเป๋เดินได้ และคนตาบอดก็มองเห็น ทุกคนต่างพากันสรรเสริญพระเจ้าของอิสราเอล
พระเยซูเลี้ยงอาหารคนกว่าสี่พันคน

32 พระเยซูเรียกพวกศิษย์ของพระองค์มา แล้วพูดว่า “สงสารคนพวกนี้จริงๆเพราะเขาอยู่ที่นี่กับเรามาสามวันแล้ว และไม่มีอะไรกินด้วย ไม่อยากจะส่งพวกเขากลับไปทั้งๆที่ยังหิวอยู่ อาจจะไปเป็นลมกลางทางได้”
33 พวกศิษย์จึงพูดว่า “ในที่เปล่าเปลี่ยวแห้งแล้งอย่างนี้ จะไปเอาอาหารที่ไหนมาเลี้ยงคนตั้งมากมายขนาดนี้ได้ล่ะครับ”
34 พระเยซูถามว่า “พวกคุณมีขนมปังอยู่กี่ก้อน” พวกศิษย์ตอบว่า “เจ็ดก้อนกับปลาตัวเล็กๆอีกไม่กี่ตัว”
35 พระเยซูบอกให้ฝูงชนนั่งลงกับพื้น 36 พระองค์เอาขนมปังทั้งเจ็ดก้อนและปลามา ขอบคุณพระเจ้า แล้วหักขนมปังและปลาส่งให้พวกศิษย์ พวกศิษย์ก็เอาไปแจกให้กับฝูงชนกินกัน 37 เมื่อทุกคนกินอิ่มแล้ว พวกศิษย์เก็บเศษอาหารที่เหลือได้เจ็ดเข่งเต็มๆ 38 นับผู้ชายที่กินอยู่ที่นั่นได้สี่พันคน ไม่รวมผู้หญิงและเด็ก 39 หลังจากที่พระเยซูส่งทุกคนกลับบ้านหมดแล้ว พระองค์ก็ลงเรือไปแคว้นมากาดาน

1 Then [a]came to Jesus the Scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,
2 (A) Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the Elders? for they [b]wash not their hands when they eat bread.
3 [c]But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
4 (B)For God hath commanded, saying, [d]Honor thy father and mother: (C)and he that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
5 But ye say, [e]Whosoever shall say to father or mother, By the gift that is offered by me, thou mayest have profit,
6 Though he honor not his father, or his mother, shall be free: thus have ye made the commandment of God of no [f]authority by your tradition.
7 [g]O hypocrites, Isaiah prophesied well of you, saying,
8 (D)This people draweth near unto me with their mouth, and honoreth me with the lips, but their heart is far off from me.
9 But in vain they worship me, teaching for doctrines, men’s precepts.
10 [h]Then he called the multitude unto him, and said to them, Hear and understand.
11 (E)That which goeth into the mouth, defileth not the man, but that which cometh out of the mouth that defileth the man.

17 Perceive ye not yet, that whatsoever entereth into the mouth, goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth, come from the heart, and they defile the man.
19 For out of the heart (I)come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false testimonies, slanders.
20 These are the things which defile the man: but to eat with unwashed hands, defileth not the man.
21 (J)And Jesus went thence, and departed into the [i]coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
22 And behold, a woman a [j]Canaanite came out of the same coasts, and cried, saying unto him, Have mercy on me, O Lord, the son of David: my daughter is miserably vexed with a devil.
23 [k]But he answered her not a word. Then came to him his disciples, and besought him, saying, Send her away, for she crieth after us.
24 But he answered, and said, I am not sent, but unto the (K)lost sheep of the [l]house of Israel.
25 Yet she came, and worshipped him, saying, Lord help me.
26 And he answered, and said, It is not good to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to whelps.
27 But she said, Truth, Lord: yet indeed the whelps eat of the crumbs, which fall from their master’s table.
28 Then Jesus answered, and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it to thee, as thou desirest. And her daughter was made whole at that hour.
29 ¶ [m]So Jesus (L)went away from thence, and came near unto the sea of Galilee, and went up in a mountain and sat down there.
30 And great multitudes came unto him, (M)having with them, halt, blind, dumb, [n]maimed, and many others, and cast them down, at Jesus’ feet, and he healed them.
31 Insomuch that the multitude wondered, to see the dumb speak, the maimed whole, the halt to go, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
32 (N)[o]Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on this multitude, because they have [p]continued with me already three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not let them depart fasting, lest they faint in the way.
33 And his disciples said unto him, Whence should we get so much bread in the wilderness, as should suffice so great a multitude!
34 And Jesus said unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.
35 Then he commandeth the multitude [q]to sit down on the ground.
36 And took the seven loaves, and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
37 And they did all eat, and were sufficed, and they took up of the fragments that remained, seven [r]baskets full.
38 And they that had eaten, were four thousand men, beside women, and little children.
39 Then Jesus sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the parts of Magdala.

- Matthew 15:3 Their wicked boldness, in corrupting the commandments of God, and that upon the pretence of godliness, and usurping authority to make laws, is here reproved.
- Matthew 15:4 By honor is meant all kinds of duties which children owe to their parents.

- Matthew 15:6 You made it of no power and authority as much as lay in you: for otherwise the commandments of God stand fast in the Church of God, in despite of the world and Satan.
- Matthew 15:7 The same men are condemned for hypocrisy and superstition, because they made the kingdom of God to stand in outward things.
- Matthew 15:10 Christ teacheth us that hypocrisy of false teachers which deceive our soul, is not to be borne withall, no not in indifferent matters, and there is no reason why their ordinary vocation should blind our eyes: otherwise we are like to perish with them.
- Matthew 15:21 Coasts which were near to Tyre and Sidon, that is, in that quarter where Palestine bendeth toward Phoenicia, and the sea of Syria.
- Matthew 15:22 Of the flock of the Canaanites, which dwelled in Phoenicia.
- Matthew 15:23 In that that Christ doth sometimes as it were stop his ears against the prayers of his Saints, he doeth it for his glory and our profit.
- Matthew 15:24 Of the people of Israel, which people was divided into tribes, but all those tribes came of one house.
- Matthew 15:29 Christ ceaseth not to be beneficial even there where he is contemned, and in the midst of wolves he gathered together and fostereth his flock.
