21 Essa partorirà un figlio e tu lo chiamerai Gesù: egli infatti salverà il suo popolo dai suoi peccati».
22 Tutto questo avvenne perché si adempisse ciò che era stato detto dal Signore per mezzo del profeta:
23 Ecco, la vergine concepirà e partorirà un figlio
che sarà chiamato Emmanuele,
che significa Dio con noi.

21 Maria avrà un figlio al quale metterai nome Gesù (che significa Salvatore), perché è lui che salverà il suo popolo dai suoi peccati. 22 Questo accadrà, affinché si realizzi ciò che Dio ha detto tramite il suo profeta: 23 “Ascoltate! La vergine sarà incinta! Partorirà un figlio che sarà chiamato Emmanuele (che significa Dio è con noi)”».

21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus,[a](A) because he will save his people from their sins.”(B)
22 All this took place to fulfill(C) what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”[b](D) (which means “God with us”).
