Believers Are Salt and Light^(A)

¹³ “You are the salt of the earth; ^(B)but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

^14 (C)“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. ¹⁵ Nor do they ^(D)light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. ¹⁶ Let your light so shine before men, ^(E)that they may see your good works and ^(F)glorify your Father in heaven.

^10 (C)When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, “Hear and understand: ^11 (D)Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.”

¹² Then His disciples came and said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?”

¹³ But He answered and said, ^(E)“Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted. ¹⁴ Let them alone. ^(F)They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.”

^2 (A)Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He ^[a]takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear ^(B)more fruit.

²² But ^(A)the fruit of the Spirit is ^(B)love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, ^(C)goodness, ^(D)faithfulness, ^23 [a]gentleness, self-control. ^(E)Against such there is no law. ²⁴ And those who are Christ’s ^(F)have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. ^25 (G)If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Walk in Light

⁸ For you were once darkness, but now you are ^(A)light in the Lord. Walk as children of light ⁹ (for ^(B)the fruit of the ^[a]Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), ^10 (C)finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. ¹¹ And have ^(D)no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather ^[b]expose them. ^12 (E)For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. ¹³ But ^(F)all things that are ^[c]exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.
