Pedro nega Jesus
(Mc 14.66-72; Lc 22.54-62; Jo 18.16-18, 25-27)
69 Entretanto, Pedro continuava sentado no pátio e uma criada disse-lhe: “Tu estavas com Jesus; tu e ele são da Galileia.” 70 Mas Pedro negou, zangado: “Não faço ideia do que dizes.”
71 Pouco depois, fora da porta, outra criada reparou nele e comentou com os que ali se encontravam: “Este também estava com Jesus de Nazaré.” 72 Mas Pedro tornou a negar, jurando: “Eu nem sequer o conheço!”
73 Decorrido algum tempo, os homens que tinham estado ali aproximaram-se dele e disseram: “Sabemos que és um deles por causa do teu sotaque galileu.”
74 Pedro então começou a jurar e a praguejar: “Eu nem sequer conheço esse homem!”, repetia. E imediatamente o galo cantou. 75 Pedro lembrou-se de que Jesus lhe tinha dito: “Antes que o galo cante, negar-me-ás três vezes.” E saindo dali chorou amargamente.

69 Ora, Pedro estava assentado fora, no pátio; e, aproximando-se dele uma criada, disse: Tu também estavas com Jesus, o galileu. 70 Mas ele negou diante de todos, dizendo: Não sei o que dizes. 71 E, saindo para o vestíbulo, outra criada o viu e disse aos que ali estavam: Este também estava com Jesus, o Nazareno. 72 E ele negou outra vez, com juramento: Não conheço tal homem. 73 E, logo depois, aproximando-se os que ali estavam, disseram a Pedro: Verdadeiramente, também tu és deles, pois a tua fala te denuncia. 74 Então, começou ele a praguejar e a jurar, dizendo: Não conheço esse homem. E imediatamente o galo cantou. 75 E lembrou-se Pedro das palavras de Jesus, que lhe dissera: Antes que o galo cante, três vezes me negarás. E, saindo dali, chorou amargamente.

Peter Disowns Jesus(A)
69 Now Peter was sitting out in the courtyard, and a servant girl came to him. “You also were with Jesus of Galilee,” she said.
70 But he denied it before them all. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he said.
71 Then he went out to the gateway, where another servant girl saw him and said to the people there, “This fellow was with Jesus of Nazareth.”
72 He denied it again, with an oath: “I don’t know the man!”
73 After a little while, those standing there went up to Peter and said, “Surely you are one of them; your accent gives you away.”
74 Then he began to call down curses, and he swore to them, “I don’t know the man!”
Immediately a rooster crowed. 75 Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken: “Before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.”(B) And he went outside and wept bitterly.
