9 Trong khi họ từ trên núi xuống, Ðức Chúa Jesus ra lịnh cho họ, “Các ngươi không được nói cho ai biết khải tượng này cho đến khi Con Người từ cõi chết sống lại.”
10 Các môn đồ hỏi Ngài, “Thế tại sao những thầy dạy giáo luật lại bảo Ê-li phải đến trước?”
11 Ngài trả lời và nói, “Hẳn nhiên Ê-li phải đến để chỉnh đốn mọi sự; 12 nhưng Ta nói với các ngươi, Ê-li đã đến rồi, nhưng họ chẳng nhận ra ông ấy, mà còn đối xử với ông ấy theo ý họ muốn. Con Người cũng phải chịu khổ bởi tay họ như vậy.”
13 Bấy giờ các môn đồ hiểu rằng Ngài đang nói với họ về Giăng Báp-tít.

9 As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, “Don’t tell anyone(A) what you have seen, until the Son of Man(B) has been raised from the dead.”(C)
10 The disciples asked him, “Why then do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?”
11 Jesus replied, “To be sure, Elijah comes and will restore all things.(D) 12 But I tell you, Elijah has already come,(E) and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished.(F) In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer(G) at their hands.” 13 Then the disciples understood that he was talking to them about John the Baptist.(H)

9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.
10 And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?
11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.
12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.
13 Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.
