²But John, having heard in the prison the works of the Christ, sent by his disciples,

²When John,^(A) who was in prison,^(B) heard about the deeds of the Messiah, he sent his disciples

³and said to him, Art *thou* the coming [one]? or are we to wait for another?

³to ask him, “Are you the one who is to come,^(A) or should we expect someone else?”
