1 Buku lofotokoza za mʼbado wa Yesu Khristu mwana wa Davide, mwana wa Abrahamu:
2 Abrahamu anabereka Isake,
Isake anabereka Yakobo,
Yakobo anabereka Yuda ndi abale ake.
3 Yuda anabereka Perezi ndi Zara, amene amayi awo anali Tamara.
Perezi anabereka Hezironi,
Hezironi anabereka Aramu.
4 Aramu anabereka Aminadabu,
Aminadabu anabereka Naasoni,
Naasoni anabereka Salimoni.
5 Salimoni anabereka Bowazi amene amayi ake anali Rahabe,
Bowazi anabereka Obedi amene amayi ake anali Rute,
Obedi anabereka Yese.
6 Yese anabereka Mfumu Davide.
Ndipo Davide anabereka Solomoni, amene amayi ake anali mkazi wa Uriya.
7 Solomoni anabereka Rehabiamu,
Rehabiamu anabereka Abiya,
Abiya anabereka Asa,
8 Asa anabereka Yehosafati,
Yehosafati anabereka Yoramu,
Yoramu anabereka Uziya.
9 Uziya anabereka Yotamu,
Yotamu anabereka Ahazi,
Ahazi anabereka Hezekiya.
10 Hezekiya anabereka Manase,
Manase anabereka Amoni,
Amoni anabereka Yosiya.
11 Yosiya anali atabala Yekoniya ndi abale ake pamene Ayuda anatengedwa ukapolo kupita ku Babuloni.
12 Ali ku ukapolo ku Babuloni,
Yekoniya anabereka Salatieli,
Salatieli anabereka Zerubabeli.
13 Zerubabeli anabereka Abiudi,
Abiudi anabereka Eliakimu,
Eliakimu anabereka Azoro.
14 Azoro anabereka Zadoki,
Zadoki anabereka Akimu,
Akimu anabereka Eliudi.
15 Eliudi anabereka Eliezara,
Eliezara anabereka Matani,
Matani anabereka Yakobo.
16 Yakobo anabereka Yosefe, mwamuna wa Mariya. Mariyayu ndiye anabereka Yesu wotchedwa Khristu.
17 Kuyambira pa Abrahamu mpaka pa Davide, pali mibado khumi ndi inayi. Ndipo kuyambira pa Davide mpaka pamene Ayuda anatengedwa kupita ku ukapolo ku Babuloni, pali mibado khumi ndi inayi. Ndiponso kuyambira nthawi ya ukapolo ku Babuloni mpaka pamene Khristu anabadwa, palinso mibado khumi ndi inayi.
Kubadwa kwa Yesu Khristu
18 Kubadwa kwa Yesu Khristu kunali motere: Amayi ake, Mariya, anapalidwa ubwenzi ndi Yosefe, koma asanagone malo amodzi, anapezeka ali woyembekezera mwana mwa mphamvu ya Mzimu Woyera. 19 Popeza Yosefe mwamuna wake anali munthu wolungama, sanafune kumuchititsa manyazi pomuleka poyera. Choncho anaganiza zomuleka mosaonetsera.
20 Koma akuganiza zimenezi, taonani, mngelo wa Ambuye anamuonekera mʼmaloto nati, “Yosefe mwana wa Davide, usaope kumutenga Mariya kukhala mkazi wako, chifukwa mwana akuyembekezerayo ndi wochokera kwa Mzimu Woyera. 21 Ndipo adzabala mwana wamwamuna, udzamutcha dzina lake Yesu; pakuti Iyeyo adzapulumutsa anthu ake ku machimo awo.”
22 Zonsezi zinachitika kukwaniritsa zimene Ambuye ananena mwa mneneri kuti, 23 “Onani namwali adzakhala woyembekezera ndipo adzabala mwana wamwamuna, ndipo mwanayo adzamutcha Imanueli,” kutanthauza kuti, “Mulungu ali nafe.”
24 Yosefe atadzuka, anachita zomwe mngelo wa Ambuye uja anamulamulira. Iye anamutenga Mariya kukhala mkazi wake. 25 Koma sanagone malo amodzi mpaka mwanayo atabadwa ndipo anamutcha dzina lake Yesu.

2 (E)Abraham begot Isaac, (F)Isaac begot Jacob, and Jacob begot (G)Judah and his brothers. 3 (H)Judah begot Perez and Zerah by Tamar, (I)Perez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot Ram. 4 Ram begot Amminadab, Amminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon. 5 Salmon begot (J)Boaz by Rahab, Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, Obed begot Jesse, 6 and (K)Jesse begot David the king.
(L)David the king begot Solomon by her [b]who had been the wife of Uriah. 7 (M)Solomon begot Rehoboam, Rehoboam begot (N)Abijah, and Abijah begot [c]Asa. 8 Asa begot (O)Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat begot Joram, and Joram begot (P)Uzziah. 9 Uzziah begot Jotham, Jotham begot (Q)Ahaz, and Ahaz begot Hezekiah. 10 (R)Hezekiah begot Manasseh, Manasseh begot [d]Amon, and Amon begot (S)Josiah. 11 (T)Josiah begot [e]Jeconiah and his brothers about the time they were (U)carried away to Babylon.
12 And after they were brought to Babylon, (V)Jeconiah begot Shealtiel, and Shealtiel begot (W)Zerubbabel. 13 Zerubbabel begot Abiud, Abiud begot Eliakim, and Eliakim begot Azor. 14 Azor begot Zadok, Zadok begot Achim, and Achim begot Eliud. 15 Eliud begot Eleazar, Eleazar begot Matthan, and Matthan begot Jacob. 16 And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of (X)Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ.
17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, from David until the captivity in Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the captivity in Babylon until the Christ are fourteen generations.
Christ Born of Mary(Y)
18 Now the (Z)birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child (AA)of the Holy Spirit. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being [f]a just man, and not wanting (AB)to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. 20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, (AC)for that which is [g]conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 (AD)And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name [h]Jesus, (AE)for He will save His people from their sins.”
22 So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: 23 (AF)“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”
24 Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, 25 and [i]did not know her till she had brought forth (AG)her[j] firstborn Son. And he called His name Jesus.
