¹⁹ Jesus got up and went with him, and so did his disciples.

⁵⁸ But Peter followed him at a distance, right up to the courtyard of the high priest.^(A) He entered and sat down with the guards^(B) to see the outcome.

²⁰ At once they left their nets and followed him.^(A)

²² and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.^(A)

¹⁹ Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”

²² But Jesus told him, “Follow me,^(A) and let the dead bury their own dead.”

Jesus Calms the Storm^(B)(C)

²³ Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him.

The Calling of Matthew^(A)

⁹ As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,”^(B) he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.

³⁸ Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me.^(A)

²⁴ Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.^(A)

²¹ Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect,^(A) go, sell your possessions and give to the poor,^(B) and you will have treasure in heaven.^(C) Then come, follow me.”
