10 (A)Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 (B)Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of (C)evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 (D)Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for (E)so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Believers Are Salt and Light(F)

13 “You are the salt of the earth; (G)but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

14 (H)“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they (I)light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, (J)that they may see your good works and (K)glorify your Father in heaven.

The World’s Hatred

18 (A)“If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. 19 (B)If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet (C)because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you, (D)‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you.
