⁴ and they ^(A)plotted together to seize Jesus by stealth and kill Him.

The Plot to Kill Jesus

14 ^(A)Now ^(B)the Passover and Unleavened Bread were two days away; and the chief priests and the scribes ^(C)were seeking how, after seizing Him in secret, they might kill Him;

¹⁹ And the scribes and the chief priests ^(A)tried to lay hands on Him that very hour, but they feared the people. For they understood that He spoke this parable against them. ^20 (B)So they watched Him, and sent spies who ^[a]pretended to be righteous, so ^(C)that they might ^[b]catch Him in some statement, in order to deliver Him to the rule and the authority of ^(D)the governor.

² And the chief priests and the scribes ^(A)were seeking how they might put Him to death; for they were afraid of the people.

Jesus’ Equality with the Father

¹⁸ For this reason therefore ^(A)the Jews ^(B)were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, ^(C)making Himself equal with God.

7 And after these things Jesus ^(A)was walking in Galilee, for He was unwilling to walk in Judea because ^(B)the Jews ^(C)were seeking to kill Him.

⁵³ So from that day on they ^(A)planned together to kill Him.
