A Rich Young Man

¹⁶ And behold, someone came up to him and^[a] said, “Teacher, what good thing must I do so that I will have eternal life?” ¹⁷ And he said to him, “Why are you asking me about what is good? There is one who is good. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments!”

¹³ For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be declared righteous.^[a]

¹⁹ (I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh.) For just as you presented your members as slaves to immorality and lawlessness, leading to lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness, leading to sanctification.
