The Transfiguration

17 ^(A)Six days later, Jesus *took with Him ^(B)Peter and ^[a]James, and his brother John, and *led them up on a high mountain by themselves. ² And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light. ³ And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. ⁴ Peter responded and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If You want, ^(C)I will make three ^[b]tabernacles here: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” ⁵ While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, ^(D)a voice from the cloud said, “^(E)This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him!” ⁶ When the disciples heard this, they fell ^[c]face down to the ground and were terrified.

^7 (A)Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and ^(B)every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will ^(C)mourn over Him. ^[a]So it is to be. Amen.

¹³ and ^(A)in the middle of the lampstands I saw one ^(B)like ^[a]a son of man, ^(C)clothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and ^(D)wrapped around the chest with a golden sash. ¹⁴ His head and His ^(E)hair were white like white wool, like snow; and ^(F)His eyes were like a flame of fire. ¹⁵ His ^(G)feet were like ^[b]burnished bronze when it has been heated to a glow in a furnace, and His ^(H)voice was like the sound of many waters. ¹⁶ In His right hand He held ^(I)seven stars, and out of His mouth came a ^(J)sharp two-edged sword; and His ^(K)face was like ^(L)the sun ^[c]shining in its strength.

¹⁷ When I saw Him, I ^(M)fell at His feet like a dead man. And He ^(N)placed His right hand on me, saying, “^(O)Do not be afraid; ^(P)I am the first and the last,

¹² His ^(A)eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many ^(B)crowns; and He has a ^(C)name written on Him which no one knows except Himself.
