²¹ Another of the disciples said to him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.”

⁵⁹ To another he said, “Follow me.” But he said, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” ⁶⁰ And Jesus^[a] said to him, “Leave ^(A)the dead to bury their own dead. But as for you, go and ^(B)proclaim the kingdom of God.” ⁶¹ Yet another said, “I will follow you, Lord, ^(C)but let me first say farewell to those at my home.” ⁶² Jesus said to him, ^(D)“No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”

⁶ “All the days that he separates himself to the Lord ^(A)he shall not go near a dead body. ^7 (B)Not even for his father or for his mother, for brother or sister, if they die, shall he make himself unclean, because his separation to God is on his head.

¹¹ He shall not ^(A)go in to any dead bodies nor make himself unclean, even for his father or for his mother. ^12 (B)He shall not go out of the sanctuary, lest he ^(C)profane the sanctuary of his God, for the ^(D)consecration of the anointing oil of his God is on him: I am the Lord.

^29 (A)And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name's sake, will receive a hundredfold^[a] and will ^(B)inherit eternal life.

²⁰ And he left the oxen and ran after Elijah and said, ^(A)“Let me kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you.” And he said to him, “Go back again, for what have I done to you?” ²¹ And he returned from following him and took the yoke of oxen and sacrificed them and boiled their flesh ^(B)with the yokes of the oxen and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he arose and went after Elijah and assisted him.

² “Thus says the Lord of hosts: These people say the time has not yet come to rebuild the house of the Lord.”

¹⁶ From now on, therefore, ^(A)we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer.
