⁸ For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.^(A)

⁴² Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come in^[a] your kingdom.” ⁴³ He replied, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”^(A)

²² Just then a Canaanite woman from that region came out and started shouting, “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is tormented by a demon.”^{(A) 23} But he did not answer her at all. And his disciples came and urged him, saying, “Send her away, for she keeps shouting after us.” ²⁴ He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”^{(B) 25} But she came and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, help me.”^{(C) 26} He answered, “It is not fair to take the children’s food and throw it to the dogs.” ²⁷ She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’^[a] table.” ²⁸ Then Jesus answered her, “Woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you wish.” And her daughter was healed from that moment.^(D)

¹¹ The Lord said to him, “Get up and go to the street called Straight, and at the house of Judas look for a man of Tarsus named Saul. At this moment he is praying,^(A)

⁸ The wind^[a] blows where it chooses, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”^{(A) 9} Nicodemus said to him, “How can these things be?”^{(B) 10} Jesus answered him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and yet you do not understand these things?

¹⁹ His prayer, and how God received his entreaty, all his sin and his faithlessness, the sites on which he built high places and set up the sacred poles^[a] and the images, before he humbled himself, these are written in the records of the seers.^[b](A)

² Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding.
