²¹ “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven,^(A) but only the one who does the will^(B) of my Father in heaven.^{(C) 22} On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in your name, drive out demons^(D) in your name, and do many miracles in your name?’^{(E) 23} Then I will announce to them, ‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you lawbreakers!’^[a][b](F)

²³ While he was in Jerusalem^(A) during the Passover Festival,^(B) many believed in his name^(C) when they saw the signs he was doing. ²⁴ Jesus, however, would not entrust himself to them, since he knew them all ²⁵ and because he did not need anyone to testify about man; for he himself knew what was in man.^(D)

¹⁹ They went out from us, but they did not belong to us; for if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us. However, they went out so that it might be made clear that none of them belongs to us.
