Do Not Worry

²⁵ “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink,^[a] or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?^(A)

⁶ Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.^(A)

²⁷ Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin,^[a] yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these.^(A)

³¹ Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’

Purse, Bag, and Sword

³⁵ He said to them, “When I sent you out without a purse, bag, or sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “No, not a thing.”^{(A) 36} He said to them, “But now, the one who has a purse must take it, and likewise a bag. And the one who has no sword must sell his cloak and buy one.

¹¹ In reply he said to them, “Whoever has two coats must share with anyone who has none, and whoever has food must do likewise.”^(A)

¹⁰ no bag for your journey, or two tunics, or sandals, or a staff, for laborers deserve their food.^(A)
