^29 (A)If your right eye causes you to ^[a]sin, ^(B)pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.

^43 (A)If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life ^[a]maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to ^[b]hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched— ^44 [c]where

⁴⁵ And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame, rather than having two feet, to be cast into ^[d]hell, ^[e]into the fire that shall never be quenched— ⁴⁶ where

⁴⁷ And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into ^[f]hell fire— ⁴⁸ where

^5 (A)Therefore put to death ^(B)your members which are on the earth: ^(C)fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, ^(D)which is idolatry.

¹³ For ^(A)if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you ^(B)put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

Christ’s Example to Be Followed

4 Therefore, since Christ suffered ^[a]for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, ² that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, ^(A)but for the will of God. ³ For we have spent enough of our past ^[b]lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles—when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries.

^27 (A)But I discipline my body and ^(B)bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become ^(C)disqualified.

⁶ knowing this, that ^(A)our old man was crucified with Him, that ^(B)the body of sin might be ^[a]done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.

^24 (A)For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. ^25 (B)For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?

³⁶ For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?
