²³ So when you are offering your gift at the altar, if you remember that your brother or sister has something against you,^(A)

²⁵ “Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.”^[a](A)

² “When any of you sin and commit a trespass against the Lord by deceiving a neighbor in a matter of a deposit or a pledge or by robbery or if you have defrauded a neighbor^{(A) 3} or have found something lost and lied about it—if you swear falsely regarding any of the various things that one may do and sin^(B)— ⁴ when you have sinned and recognize your guilt and would restore what you took by robbery or by fraud or the deposit that was committed to you or the lost thing that you found ⁵ or anything else about which you have sworn falsely, you shall repay the principal amount and add one-fifth to it. You shall pay it to its owner when you recognize your guilt.^{(C) 6} And you shall bring to the priest, as your guilt offering to the Lord, a ram without blemish from the flock, or its equivalent, for a guilt offering.^(D)

⁴ Then Jesus said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”^(A)

²⁴ leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother or sister, and then come and offer your gift.

¹⁹ How blind you are! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that makes the gift sacred?^(A)

⁸ Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, “Look, half of my possessions, Lord, I will give to the poor, and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will pay back four times as much.”^(A)
